How long do you all spend on station? When given a specific patrol area, do you do the required 48 hours or do you spend longer? I spend about a week on each patrol mission before radioing in, as I figure this sounds feasable given what I've read about real life skippers. I like to play as close to realism as possible ( I usually stay out bwteen 40 and 60 days, fuel and eels permitting) and was wondering what the real life preocedure on this was, if anyone knows.
Just curious!

Usually I draw my circle around the star and stay inside until I can get credit. Then I search for targets in an expanding grid without regard for staying inside my circle. Very often I make contact still within the 75 mile radius (or whater was required for credit) and proceed to hunt and kill there. But if I have to go outside to acquire a target, that's just how it worked out. In RL the boats had liberty to follow or seek contacts out of their patrol area with the understanding that they returned to it after resolution of the contact situation.
