Default To Onlifecrisis and SH3 Modders

onelifecrisis,
Yesterday, I raked you over the coals without good reason on the occasion. Out of a number of messages from you, I began by reading one post out of sequence and from there interpreted the rest to be impatience or insistance. My initial response in retrospect was indeed quite arrogant as a result.

I've grown too used to being criticized and sometimes give such things far more credence than is deserved. Whatever the problems were that precipitated yesterday's events... they did not warrant the rude handling you recieved by me.

For these things I unreservedly apologize to you.

I hope you will hold my friends blameless. We've shared very hard times with each other and they rushed to defend me when they smelled the smoke. No one could hope for a better crew than the one we have now. However, on this occasion they followed me as I headed in the wrong direction.

To all at Subsim.com:
Some of you have been here for a long time indeed, and are aware of the hard line that we have taken regarding permissions, requests, and the respect that modders deserve in relation to their past works. You have seen this community and GWX suffer the indignity of theft by the likes of X-1/Combatplanes, and people like donots76/Testpilot/Ava/ or whatever he calls himself now, and others who have totally disregarded the simple act of asking permission or crediting.

For those who are new to this forum... maybe this post will go a ways to explain.

The hard line that we have taken in the past has on occasion been very difficult and required an element of courage that few have, or suddenly find, when it affects them directly. Until recently, there was no roadmap, no guidelines, no visible means of protection or direction for those who decided to bring new things to the table.

Far too often we have seen a careless few do as they please and be completely dismissive of convention and common decency. Far too often, unscrupulous individuals choose to do little more than rape the work of others to achieve their own self-centered objectives.

Modders deserve the simple respect of a request for permission and a mention in the credits of subsequent works that carry forward hard-won problem solutions and discoveries. For the average user, I think that maybe these concepts do not matter. Many of them could care less and only post here to beg for candy and its immediate release. However, for the artist who gives freely of himself or herself for the enjoyment of others, we all owe it to them for works both great and small that may be contributory to a following artist's success.

We are NOT talking of fame and fortune here... but common decency.

We (GWX devs and/or crew) will continue to hold and defend this hard line... however unpleasant it may be.

Concerning his interface mod WIP for GWX, onelifecrisis did indeed attempt to handle it with respect and did make a sincere effort to observe convention.

Also,
OLC, if you care to attempt to move forward from the mess I made in your storefront, I'll be happy to grant you permissions for necessary materials from GWX 1.03 that you may need to complete your mod... and I hope you will extract any necessary text and/or images from your previous interface WIP thread to create a new one.

I/we will do what we can to help given the understanding that any incompatabilities with future GWX 1.04 material are inadvertant and resultant from necessary changes to our default interface, and as current obligations/timeframes allow.

Again OLC, I offer my apologies.

Sincerely, thank you very much!

And (at the possible risk of this all becoming rather mushy) I offer apologies for my rude words also.

As a new member, I felt very welcome one moment, then prone to dive for depth and run silent around here. Ping, ping, ping... I now applaud the recent resolution to this issue with OLC.

Wishing you all clear seas and continued success at your amazing developments! Three cheers to team GWX, forum members, modders & modelers!

Nothing to add that the Chief didn't already say. Except, thanks and to say relieved that yesterday was yesterday and today is today.

Onwards and upwards.

Nice to see what a little time and courtesy add up to.

You are both to be commended for your ability to reconcile this matter.

Good show, fair winds and following seas!

For the GWX crew,

If any of my work can help make your mega mod better please use it. I don't mind. Its all for you SH3 gamers anyhow.

I Know if it should happen come to life for GWX 1.4 the AI Uboat thingie, maybe some of the authentic U-boat skins can be used to simulate actual events at the time period using the AI Uboats. Who knows?

Peace all and good hunting

Im glad to see this has resolved itself.

onelifecrisis if you plan to continue your work on your mod i suggest starting a new WIP thread for it as i dont think the previous one will be unlocked. If you need ill be happy to move any specific posts from your old thread to your new one as you need, just PM me which ones.
