on my first patrol, i have to patrol in the celbes sea. the mission was to to deploy there and engage enemy merchant shipping. i did so and managed to sink about 10 ships i think, but they were either junks or fishing boats. would this have any effect? so after doing that for 3 full days i still have not completed the 2nd objective, i decided to head back to port.

Usually it will tell you to patrol around the star. 48 hours I believe is what you need to patrol. Then it will say to engage enemy shipping. You need to sink 10000 tons before you are assigned a different patrol area. Sometimes it does get slow in the Celebes. Keep hunting until you sink your quota. I have returned to port after weeks of patrolling with nothing to show for it. Can't say that I blame you for heading out somewhere else.

The one thing AVG didn't mention, is I figured out if you draw a 50 mile circle around your patrol point ( the binoculars ) and stay within if for 48 hours, as long as you aren't told to sink anything even if you don't sink something the binoculars will turn gray. Sometimes there is a difference between patrol in 1944 ( where I am now) and patrol in 1942 becuase the quantity of targets dwindles as the war goes on. ( the targets also appear to be more in convoys as the war progresses.) Just thought I would add on to my friends soloution for you. |

You get 1 ton for the junks....these are cannon fodder! Save the torps for the big boys. Like I stated, the Celebes can get awfully slow. Hang out at the chock points in and out of the Celebes.
