Default Source of ship CTD discovered

This is intended for those of us who mod ships. I have discovered the reason why some modded ships cause the game to crash. It is definitely caused by the placement of a ship's masts. I am working on a freighter that has been crashing the game whenever it explodes. By setting the mast destruction trigger in Zones.cfg to "No" i managed to stop it from crashing the game. This can serve as a work-around to avoid this bug, although the best solution is to be careful about where the ship's masts are positioned. I'm not 100% sure how to prevent it from happening (other than the aforementioned workaround) but you should try to keep the masts from intersecting the hull or superstructure. Note that it's entirely possible that objects other than masts can cause this crash, so if anyone has more info, let me know.

Thanks for that info, although I don't build/mod the ships I have in the past had some CTD's that I couldn't figure out, I checked out the latest enabled mods & disabled them one at a time & found that some extra added ships caused the problem, I didn't investigate further just left em out, but this explains it!
Cheers!

Default Ship CTD's

I believe that some of the CTD's on my older vessels were occasionally (but not often) by vents which intersected the main superstructure. Most of the time, is seemed (and still seems) to be caused by masts, although they don't always seem to intersect something.

I haven't experianced this CTD yet from any modded ship.:hmm: The only crash I get is when I forget to lower the Time compression within micro managing the crew.

@Wolfehunter

Most modded ships are tested well before release
If they CTD then are not released
Usually

I think Iam is mainly aiming at the ship builders themselves
I know both AG and Iambecome have suffered from this problem in the past

The good news for all of us is maybe it pushes the MF mod closer to release
