Default [TEC] IJN ASW -does surface radar in SH4 pickup a periscope?

In calm seas.

I know in RL even a powerboats' Raytheon radar will pick-up lobster traps on a calm day.

Lagger123987 and I are tinkering with ASW sensors.

We'll do a test mission and check-it out in calm and rough seas

? for Leovampire is if the radar operates on a flat plane like a horizon line of ocean vs. air OR if the radar actually reflects off the contors of his ocean. ( aka are the swells physical or aestetic to IJN radar )

Sensors.cfg (in Cfg) has a radar section. There is a wave state modifier.

Tater, should I still customize the Sim.cfg, even when I put the latest sensors to a ship?

Dunno. I was just telling you where that was. Perhaps look at what a mod like TM does with those files.
