Default Ripple/Shimmer underwater - unwanted.

In SH4, with a GATO sub, or probably any other sub (I have only played SH4 twice), when the sub is underwater, there is a kind of Feature film blurry/ripple/shimmer effect on the skin of the sub....how do I get rid of that, so it looks as clear as the subs in SH3?
Its not a graphics card issue, its a - sort of movie underwater effect.

I think there was a mod for this made awhile back, possibly by kriller2. I took a quick look but could not find it. Maybe someone else here can point you in the right direction. I see Redwine has a mod in the updated 1.3 list, Improved Underwater Visibility, you could check this one out.

Turning some of the graphics options certainly gives you clearer water, but takes away from some of the other great stuff.

Personally I like this effect as compared to SH3, but to each his own

That worked just fine.
Thanks very much.
Helpful chappies
Doing that MSCONFIG thing makes the program run incredibly smoothly as well, (Seen in another post) seeing the Japanese sailors holding their hands to their ears on a heavy cruiser.....needed that nifty bit of advice to stop it going through treacle.
think I'll just use it on me Trainz2006 program now to see if it will run better!
