I need your wisdom Vets and Tell me what you think of my new skin!

Ok I haven't modded textures in a long time, actually since DOW came out. I'm a little rusty. This is still work in progress. I want to know what you guys think. I used Fubars IXB Schlickgrau 58 file Turm9c file to experiment with.

I don't want to infringe on Fubars personal work. So if there is a way to extract these file directly. who knows and what program do I need to do it with? Please I'm all ears
Never mind the program to extract the TGA files I figured it out.

Fubar I only used you file as a texture base. I broke down each part into a layer. The file is now my base template. Then I changed the textures with other pics only using your original as a faded layer to add highlight or shadow. Now I see that all files are 8bit. I'm using 32 bit when working on it and then save the picture to 16bit tga file. Why 8bit or 16bit? does it make a diffrence? I get no issues with 16bit file.

Heres what I've done so far.

I like details. I wanted to add age to the bridge. Also I want it to feel wet damp slicky. Plus with bad weather and salt water adds some wear and tear to each part. I love the metal flooring but it looks unused. I might have to damage it abit.

I don't know why the UZO isn't textured? Any clues? Fubar it shows when I use your textures only for U-Boats IIV's and IX's? Even with mine it shows as well. I think I read a post somewhere stating about this issue yet it slipped my mind.

I like the age in the wood. Also the texture shows it nicely. Metal shows a little wet depending on the angle of the sun.

Here you can see a rough texture. Weather and age has added rust and chipped paint. I don't feel happy with the exterior. I like it but doesn't feel right? Its cool but looks too old like someone raised the U-boat from the sea after 20 years. :hmm:

Fubar Camo IXD works nicly with my texture.

Any Ideas to change or improve it I'm all ears. Fubar since this is your base file I'm not posting it yet till I get your approval. The con tower is ready as a beta if you give the ok.

Now that I can extract the Dat files I will change it. I think I figured out why the UZO is white. Another thing to fix.

Thanks Xristo I was wondering if anybody liked it. I'm trying just a little rusty thats all.

Ok I have a new texture. I finally found out how to extract the tga files. I started with NSS_Turm7c_hull and Deck for start. I had to make a template for each with layers for all the individual textures within the file.

Now I have a template I can used them to try out many new styles.

Heres some pic of the new IIVB blue camo I call it. I don't even think it is a camo but I'm tired and its late.

Heres a shot from the bridge. Dials are darker. Some rusty red textures.

Here you can see the blue lines. Nothing too special since it my first time. But I'm getting there. Cool part is the deck you can see through the holes.

I have finished the con tower. Heres new picture. I also did some touchups on the deck to add more depth. Fixed the shadow error on the BBC box.

If anybody knows which dat file holds the deckgun and flakgun tga files can someone tell me which one is it.

I have a few questions on some texture bugs. Two in particular.

Bug "a" is a little block sticking out about a foot from the the left side of the contower. see pics. Any clues to what is causing this?

Bug "b" is that untextured area. I've tried different ways but can't manage to hid it, why?:hmm:

Thanks. I'm working on a new idea though up by Dowly. I'm going to try repaint in rez 4096 then image it to 2048 and see how that work and looks in SH3. It doesn't work I'll rez it to 1024 and I believe it will look better than my previous work. Hopefully in a few day I'll be able to release it as version 2.0

Sorry for saying this mate,
but don't you think that blue is a litlle to
blue and elect.

it seems that someone painted the boat, and done a bad job cause some parts are
painted blue and vibrante and well painted and some others look to be there for ages!

Maybe a darker standart U-Boat blue would be better!

just an observ. and sujest.

Like the 3D effect however! very cool...

Ya it looks a little too blue. This was my first quick camo. Just a refresher. Actually it was darker but ingame it didn't look as good. I changed to to more a sky blue and with its reflection onwater looked better. I will try a different blues later this weekend. I have plans. later dudes and good hunting. Thanks JC for you input.
