Default Mk 27 torpedos

odd little buggers. look way too short to have the explosive capability to damage a target enuff to sink it. had one chase down a DD but it managed to get away, but not before sinking another DD and freighter . i'm assuming it's a variable speed torp? forgot to try to set it to fast, just in case it was. also, what file can be edited so the 27s won't cost 500 a pop?, cuz that's just

I've never used the Mk 27 before, but I think it has only on speed setting and it's not really ment to sink ships. It's a homing torpedo, that should take out the ships propellor.

The Mk. 27 is ment as a defensive weapon but it is too slow to catch DDs. As I said that I've never used it but I've heard that DDs are too fast and too maneuverable for the MK 27.

LOL, the price is actually the reason why I've never used it.

I'd pay 1000 anyday if it makes the difference between sleeping with the whales at the bottom of the Pacific and limping back to Pearl. AFAIK, the Mk 27 was intended as a last resort, not as an offensive escort killer.

Promoting your crew does not reduce your renown.

At the current point, I really can't find anythign better than the crew I already have. Mid 43 and 6k renown and the crew is literally all-petty-officers&lieutenants.

I put a load of 27s in my boat on one mission. Filled the boat to overflowing with the things.

It was the worst mission I ever had.

They only have the one speed and its slow as shyite. I did manage to take out a large passenger liner with one, and crippled a DD with another.

Either way, never thought of using them as a defense in the stern, but that one trip pretty much put them on the "never use again" list for me. I don't care how much they cost.
