Default [TEC] Absurdly tough submarines

Not sure if this is merely an issue of docked ships/subs, or if the subs are WAY to tough to sink, but in a test I was doing, a docked S-18 took every single torpedo from my Gar without sinking, then a fair bit of my gun ammo for good measure). There was almost nothing left but hole templates.

Is this a problem with the subs as AI, the subs in general, or does "docking" make them indestructible?

Default LMAO ooooopppppppsssss sorry

I forgot about that mission being worked on!!!

You might have to create a cloned sub with the zon file of it reconfigured to be less resiliant and lower armor and flood time settings.

Plus this will allow you to change the award system for doing that mission.

True... wonder if I can change the zon in a "bungo pete" clone while still pointing at the stock dat.

Will test.

If that works, I can think of a few other possible missions...

tater.

It is subs in general. To be more exact, their damage model. Player subs were already too strong in SH3 (my guess this was intentionally done for the playability purpose). In SH4, Devs made subs even stronger, much stronger. Now when it comes to Sentoku and mini sub, the damage model from the US subs was applied. That is why they are strong.

In my Japanese AI subs mod, I actually made a damage model for B1-class and others which allows to kill and sink them with one-two torpedoes. Quite fragile.

That helps, sergbuto. I might end up cloning a US sub (or two) for my purpose.

Doing a bungo pete clone with a new zon seems to work fine. Still impossible to sink with the hitpoints changed from 500 to 80, but it will be marked as destroyed at least.

well this happens to me with enemy subs in harbors. i put 4 fish in one one time and it was all under but the scope and no kill. if the water is shallow enough you can throw the kitchen sink at em and they squat down or look as though they sunk but never register as sunk because conning tower or scope or whatever never goes under enough to trip the trigger. i think the game gives them better armor as well.

In the case of the pig boat, I put every single torp from a gar (even with the hitpoints modded down from 500 to 80) into a pig boat, and it didn't sink. Not meaning the scope was above water, it didn't sink at all. Didn't take a list, go down at the bow, nothing.

Yes, it is not finished yet. Currently, most of my time dedicated to SH4 modding (which is not that much) is spent on a cameras mod. Always wanted to do it for SH3 but got into doing it only after switching to SH4 where the visuals are really great and serve a good stimulus. Since my mashine is relatively outdated, testing (game loading) consumes most of the modding time. But I already got some satisfaction when I came up with the free-walk camera trick.

Maybe some internal compartment fiddling would help? Like WernerSobe did with most ships in SH4 in his NSM mod.
