Default Welcome Elcos: All U Kan Eat?

Do Elco torpedo boat lookouts have laser vision? Or is it just me?

Whether it's Sept 1939 or Dec 1942, these little gnats spot me in a heartbeat. I was just off Florida recently, Sep 42, night, light precip and light fog, passing ever...so... quietly... a Clemson class, 3K to port, when an Elco spots me from ... I don't know, Freetown is my guess, but 6K at least... turns on a dime and heads for me. Lucky I had some depth under me, but we never did get that marlin reeled in for dinner.

Seriously.... this isn't the first time. Are Elcos just super good? Or does my boat have "Welcome Elcos: All U Kan Eat Tonight" pasted on my tower?

And my next question: is there a soul-warming way to kill them? I have killed a few with the deck gun, but they are like rabid chihuahuas. Hard to respect them, but once they have a grip on your leg, it's history.

Get a Vierling and give em a taste of Krupp steel! This AA gun is a heap of fun to use on them!

Some of them are fitted with radar so they don't need to be good at seeing you. IIRC in stock and GWX1.03 some of the US Elcos's are crewed with Vetran or Elite when they should be a little less good.

But think of the greater range and damage factor....try it on an escort if circumstances permit, you'll see the difference between 20mmm and 37mm
