IID boat speeds

according to the manual/museum this type IID boat should go 12-13 knots. I assume that is while at Ahead Flank.

However, the most I can get out of it in the day time, on the surface, almost smooth water, is 9 & on occasion 10.

At night on the surface I can get 12knots out of it. Why? It's a mystery to me..

The max at periscope depth is 7kts
and if I come up to 5m I get another knot...8kts..
I don't get my deck crew until I get up to 4 knots, which I believe is periscope depth.

can anyone shed any light on why I get these slower then manual speeds.

I have the normal cd install with the 1.4b patch.
