I have tried many times to get into SSIs Great Naval Battles: North Atlantic 1939-1943, and I want to like it. It has good atmosphere and feels like a sibling of SS2 thanks to designer Roy B. Gibson. What stops me is this:
What is with the weird sea motion? Is it a bug or am I missing something crucial? When I sail in one direction and look forward, the ocean graphic behaves as if I sail sideways. Has anyone noticed this? Can it be fixed? It is the same in all game versions for me, and it is totally disorienting. ![]() |

I think that's just the graphics. They wanted to show some sort of sense of motion with the limited (at the time) graphical resources they had.
Those games were a great concept and I think were executed rather well for the time they were created. No other games scream for an remake/update than those games. I still play them as well. What other game do you get to stand on the deck of the Bismarck?!! All I can suggest is maybe take some dramamine before playing ![]() |
