I must admit I find this a little far fetched. Surely if the binocs in the crows nest were locked away and the look-out had no key one would then simply smash it open with a fire axe.

I'll add it to my list.
Keys to the Titanic disaster: 1. Have a pair of radio operators on all maritime vessels, running alternating shifts. 2. Don't increase your speed in known iceberg areas. 3. Don't chop speed while trying to turn. 4. Don't use reverse thrust while trying to turn. 5. Don't use Scottish steel with high sulfur content. 6. Do things the actual ship designer calls for. 7. Don't remove lifeboats to clear deck-space 8. Don't remove bulkheads because they're unsightly. 9. Don't lock the binoculars case. 10. Don't lock the binoculars case, then leave the ship, taking the binoculars-case key with you. |
