Default My recent absence

Yesterday i just got back from the hospital where i had just finished enjoying a forced two day stay, all courtesy of a heart attack i had wednesday morning.

Late tuesday night I began feeling pain in my left arm, jaw and chest all of which were attributable to other causes so I didn't think much of it. The pain kept me up most of the night so i took wednesday off work and slept it off.

The next day when i went back to work i happened to mention the episode to the nurses who run the schools medical assistant program and they hooked me up to an ekg machine. Two hours later i was at the hospital getting two stents put into my right coronary artery.

Word to the wise. Heart attack symptoms are very easy to ignore/explain away. I got lucky. Had i not happen to mention it to the right people i might be dead right now.

My goodness. I am glad to hear that you made it, however closely. It makes me also want to watch my diet and excercise regiment: Two things in which I tend to become increasingly lax as my career develops.

Take it easy August, making it back to work a few weeks later than they would like is a small price to pay for keeping on ticking.

Too many blood-pressure-rising debates, probably. I recommend less discussions, and more gardening!

And lay off McDonald's and Domino's. Eat lot's of tofu and do plenty of low stress exercises. Do as I say, not as I do.

Thanks. Take the time to learn a little about them. It may save your life one day.

Stents are little screen mesh tubes which they insert into the arterys surrounding your heart to open blockages.

I'm 42 and think about my health abit more than often now, im down to 2 cigarettes a day compare to about 15, my aim is to give it up within the next 2 months, im chewing that nicotine gum in between to wear of the cravings. Always have black coffees, and sugarless, I avoid Milk as its bad for your arteries from 40 onwards i am told it clogs them up, for males that is, for females they should drink milk as much as they can as their bone structure becomes weak with age. I use to love eating McDonalds burgers but haven't gone near one for nearly a yr now, totally crap food.

Why is it by statistics men have more heart attacks than woman, yet males are more fitter than females, we work till we retire females usually spend their lives in the kitchen or gardens or now alot are in the office, and arranging tea gatherings 3 times a week where they sit around munching out on cakes and bickies yet they usually always outlive the husband? I thought being fit, hard work, keeps the heart pumping... Not so maybe we should follow their lifestyle and have beer gatherings once a week?

Ahh maybe i have just answered my own question..... Beer

I recall that men store their fat differently - and more dangerously - than women. Women store a lot of it around their hips and thighs, and men put it around the gut. I don't know why that makes it more dangerous.

I may be wrong.
