Default Where'd my knottage go??

Hey, gang.

I am playing Grey Wolves mod, w/ sh3 commander ver. 2.7.0. Malfunctions enabled.

I am commanding a type ViiC with the higher level of engine upgrade.

I noticed that when I moved out on my latest patrol (#5), I cannot get my boat to reach the ordered speed.

Is this a malfunction of some kind? Damned if I am going to continue a patrol with a 20% reduction in speed.

Many thanks for your help.

Are you charging your batteries ? Charge mode reduces speed as one engine is "offline". Otherwise, sounds like one of yer diesels is no good.

And I want to believe that sabotage only occurs when we're based at French ports ? Historically, German bases were the only place for reliable uboat service after the move to France.
Would you agree ?

It'll be an engine malfunction, kindly supplied by SH3 Commander! I had the same thing some time back though I've since disabled that option because of the irritation factor. It might be nearer to reality, but things like that happening annoyed the hell out of me! It must have been murder for the RL commanders, I'm glad we can turn them off!

Hmmm. Yes, so it would seem.

It does make it interesting, BUT... I highly doubt that the KM would entrust maintainance of their fleet to French dockworkers.

If the quality of French cars is any indication, then it would be like taking your BMW to a shop with dodgy French Puegot mechanics....

Unlikely.

The french dockworkers (and other labour) was indeed the cause of some sabotage of different kinds. As the damage&malfunctions option in SH3Cmd tries to reflect.

As for the engine upgrades, I myself do not use them cause the subs, VIIC for example, actually reaches it's accurate top speed of 17.7 knots without them.

After running some quick sims in a Type II, I find that I'm getting better mileage with the engine upgrades. Ubåtskapten, do you concur ? We may be able to squeeze some more juice out of these lemons.

It may be the malfunctions... or it may be an old stock bug. (Not GWX)

The old stock bug: If you come to a final waypoint that you've plotted... your boat will stop and refuse to move again.

All you need to do is to select a REVERSE speed and then immediately select your desired forward speed. Problem solved.
