Some questions about GWX...

Hey guys, I have been playing SH3 since two days after it came out. Most of the time I play for 3 or so months and then stop playin for some period of time. Well i am back in action now for about a month and I finally got the GWX mod everyone has been buzzing about since its realease. First off, i love it. I love the harbor traffic and the numerous bases and all the little eye candy goodies, but the game leaves me with some questions mabye some GWX vets can answer me.

Q1: Do events such as the Norwegian invasion, Bismark sinking, ect. take place within the career.

Q2:All the U-boats and ships you see when in harbor, are they actually going in anywhere? Example: I saw a u-boat leave next to me and then followed it for a while, once it got into the north sea it submerged and i kinda got bored of following it. Or, almost everytime I leave Wilhemshaven in 39 I see the Tirpitz. If i stayed long enought would the Tirpitz sail out and go fight.

Q3:Are the ports you are based in ever attacked while you may be arrived or arriving.

Anything else that relates to these topics that you can inform me about as well as answering the questions would be great. Thanks, mastergunnymike!

Yes
Yes and yes

:rotfl:

Weserubung is scripted as are many many historical op
The manual has the full list

The Tirpitz stays in wilhelm to simulate its fitting out
Will then follow it RL war course

AI subs carry out random patrols around enemy areas

Yes ports get attacked from around 43 onwards

After 1943, you want to start off in one of the French ports so you have a nice protective u-boat pen bunker, so you dont get bombed

Speaking of AI submarines, I've encountered a few British S-Class subs on my patrols but they are always running on the surface. Not one has made any attenpt to submerge even after I attacked?

Is this a quirk ie: they can't run submerged in the game or have I just not happened on one doing it yet?

Apart from this very minor issue GWX is the most immersive and realistic and atmospheric simulator of any genre in my opinion...and I've played a few.

AI subs are either surfaced or submerged
Tis a hard coded issue that they cant dive when surfaced and vice versa
If at all possible
