When you get a message saying radar contact bearing xx xxx range i presume that is just the air search radar . I changed the message to say plane contact bearing xx xxx range . Is this correct that when it says radar contact , its just air search . Surface radar is always Detecting radar signals . Look for line 814 in the Data/Menu/Menu Text Document . Change it then save as .

but...cant radar (later radars) have the ability to pickup ships as well? How will it differentiate? Is there another line item that shows that identification?

thats the problem. Ive been messing around with that. There is only one message for both radars. So when you change it you will get planes contact reports on SJ.

I'm wondering...Might it be posible to write a whole new line in the menu txt just for the SD radar, and then somehow steer it to that new text, when nessesary?
Just a thought. |

![]() Not to mention, SD radar was non-directional. It could give you vague distance and course information (i.e., closing, moving away, etc.), but it could not give bearing info. |
