GWX: Penalty on Renown for sinking a Hospital Ship carrying ammunition?
So I was playing the game and found a hospital ship in the sea with a tanker and passenger liner. First idea was: "Don't fire on her, just go for the passenger liner and tanker." I did this. However, a torpedo accidentally launched when I hit the enter key afterwards. It hit the hospital ship and let out a god awful explosion. Suddenly I realised, from the distinct look of the explosions, the traitor was carrying ammunition!!! I got back to port and suffered a penalty for it. The thing is: she was carry ammo to ENEMY troops (confirmed this when I found that her course was for Lock Ewe; I sank her in the Irish Sea, about 6 KM from the port).
Now, I would like to know why this is so. A hospital ship carrying military supplies is against the articles of naval warfare and therefore, I should not of been charged for it. A screenshot is below of her sinking and the explosion WHICH, after evaluating it over and over and over again, was in fact caused by ammo, not internal cargo exploding or fuel or coal dust (verified in the GWX Manual, page 35 "DAMAGE"; you know the drill on an ammunition ship: fire, explosions all over the place, quick sinkings, sometimes the ship splitting in half...) ![]() I didn't catch the entire thing. FRAPS was being a b*tch. If you had seen it, you would of seen the masts, lifeboats, and other deck appendages pop off in a massive fire storm of shrapnel and objects. The ship sank in, and I clocked this, 46 seconds EXACTLY after ONE torpedo accidentally launched and hit her. |
