Default QUE: Integrate programs in SH3?

has anybody had success in implementing little tools into sh3? like an enigma-simulator, logbook, a cardgame, etc. this is one thing i ever thought about. how to use the free time during patrol while not loosing the nice atmosphere? would be great to have the option writing a logbook during patrol, or play a round cards like solitär, etc.

ideas? or successes?

To have those things in-game would be great, I think!!!
so you don't need to ALT+Tab all the time.
BTW, Urfish, it's nice to see you are around. I was wondering how are your projects doing, since I am very interested in many of them.

The "writin a log book" option is a very good idea... though I don't know if it can be done :hmm:, even if we have some wizards on here... :p

I got a crazy idea......has anyone tried duplicating one of the G3F xxxx blocks in menu_1024_768.ini that have just one 'material=' tag and making it say 'material=c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe'? You'll have to add it to the end of the G3F section and give it the next incremental #. You might have to comment out (add the leading ';') to the other items like crop, size, color, etc but leave the position uncommented. You probably have to give it a new ID also. You probably want the parent to be 0x3F000000. I would try it but I'm on the road and thus away from my tools and computer (this company laptop won't play SH3!) until this weekend. Backup your menu_1024_768.ini file first!
This may cause the game to lockup, crash, or ???? We'll never know unless we try! Have to try other G3F blocks also because you just never know.......

Thanks a lot for the update Urfish...
Just a little question: will they be released as part of 1.04 or as separate mods?

You can do it Racerboy, if nothing else atleast the log book, though many have tried to impliment it, the problem arises with a way to actually write (type) in the book to fill it in!

I think part of the problem arises with the use of keys as game controls. It would be hard to double map the keys in game so that you could also type. I don't know if anyone has tried the material type change to add notepad or similar but the typing has always been a problem.

There's a work around for that....we could set key entry into this 'log' as CTRL+key desired. So that's not a problem. So 'Hi' would be CTRL+SHIFT+H, CTRL+i
