Well at the moment I've only got Fubars Type VII das boot skin which although looks nice isnt hi res (i know I'm fussy lol). So yeah any skins would be great just send them over to my email (timmy3822@yahoo.co.uk).

Cheers

I just discovered that my Outbox is not capable of sending such big files and I don't want to unpack the archive and send the images one by one.
I will upload the skin instead which won't take longer than sending via email.

I'm sending Fubar's U-253 skin first. It's high res and one of the best VIIC skins he ever made. If you want to have some more, just tell.

I've got his very generic but also high res and very detailed VIIC-plain skin and the U-552 skin, which looks similiar but a little bit more rusty and weathered. This is high res too.

Further ones would be his 58 skin, med camo and his das-boot skin. All high res but I don't know how they look ingame yet .

253 is a very nice skin but that camo makes me wonder sometimes, can't explain it. 552 is what I'm using now but it's not that hi res, when you close up you can see compression mess like in jpg I was hoping there are some even higher res for maniacs playing in 1680 res like me

Hi Adam,

perhaps this would be possible to do.
First double the size of the texture image to get a 4096x4096 resolution and then rework the skin so that it gets sharp again and that the details get clearer. Perhapa add some more details.

But it sounds like much work and should perhaps better be done by some experienced skin modder.

My photoshop/gimp knowledge is yet limited to little signature works and such stuff

Exact, I was doing PS kinda pro and intuitive but I'm out of that area now. I'm using PS to work on photos and some www stuff and this is way different from making a good skin.

Now as I finally have a game that way I like it, I'll focus on doing realistic patrols. Maybe I'll try realnav again?

Thanks, looks nice. Any skins that are more plain like the original skin but hi res? a lot of them on close up inspection are blurred .

I'm currently using Fubar's plain VIIC skin (until I get into port again and finally install the 253 one ). I will upload this one too, it's high res too.

Hmm, what game are we talking about? GWX??

All the default U-Boats skins in GWX are 1024x1024 however, in GW they were all 2048x2048 and I still have them all. Will they do? If I can contact Fubar.

I got Fubar's high res skins too.
I just felt that every texture on my boat was too blurry all the time, no matter what resolution and general settings for my graphics card I played (the driver settings).

Then I realized that it was just a matter of the uboat textures being to small.
Should the GWX 1.03 skins be high res ? Meaning 2048x2048 ?
They weren't with me. There shouldn't be any mod that messed with this point of my installation either.

However, installing Fubar's high res skins did the work, now everything looks great and I like to zoom in on my sub again .

EDIT:

This should be the answer to my first question :>

The 2048 x 2048 skins were reduced for GWX due to size (mb) limitations, also IIRC all ship skins have been reduced by half, again for the same reasons.

Imagine, if you will a full high rez pack for GWX. As it stands, I think GWX uses about 2.5GB on your HDD unpacked & installed you could easily double or even triple that if all the textures were left at the original specs.

The funny thing with TGA files, is that their size (mb) has no direct correlation with their dimensions. i.e Double up from 1024 to 2048 means the file sizes (mb) increase more than double.

I'm with you guy's, I want my game to look pretty but not at the cost of performance or limiting the availability of GWX to non broadband users.
