Default Time compression limited to 4 when...

When close to the coast or traveling in a channel/river. Well, in the first two campaign missions (patrols) i've made i found out that i only have fuel to complete the mission IF i go tru the channel near the starting spot. That can take hours real time! This is jus sailing! Another question, how do i resupply my boat? Please say the exact procedure. I've tried allied random cost cities with no success (enter docks, Esc Exit patrol, right?)

Get yourself SH3 Cmdr

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=101815

That gives you the possibility to change compression time limitations. You can also give yourself a mission target PQ which fits better with your base/fuel....

For the refueling, i think it only works in blue harbours (I use GWX supermod, don't know if that changes something).

Have Fun!

To refuel, you have to dock at the port or supply ship. When you restart your mission, you will be resupplied with stores, fuel, torpedos, etc. You will also be repaired to 100%. When you start, you will be assigned to a "null" grid. There are some programs that will allow you to assign a grid to your boat.

Default Here's the answer for time compression near land

Go to "My Documents" and locate the "SH3" folder. Open it and click on data, then cfg, then main.cfg file (The path is My Documents/SH3/data/cfg/main.cfg file)

In the second section of the main.cfg file you will see [Time Compression]. Change "LandProximity=4" to "LandProximity=128" and save this file; you'll no longer have a problem in the Kiel Canal.

I've also changed AirEnemyDetect to = 0 so that the game will pause when there aircraft spotted. Also, I reduced EnemyDetect to = 1, however this is a little agrevating when in harbor traffic but I like the time compression to go to 1 when an enemy is spotted.

Hope this is helpful.

I would recommend (but there's a taste for everybody):

[TIME COMPRESSION]
TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=256
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=1
AirEnemyDetected=1
SoundEffects=2
CharacterAnim=4
EnemyDetected=1
RadioReport=2048
Particles=8
PrayState=64
HunterState=64
3DRender=32
Maximum=2048

Remember, at 64x or higher, the crew do not get more tired.

quickie about refuelling..

1) How do i find these 'milk cows' you all speak of?

2) If i dock in a port to refuel/resupply before i complete my mission(24 hour patrol of grid) and the grid turns to null, does this mean my mission will result as incomplete?

cheers

SH3 is all you need for your time compression issues.

No, the mission will not be a failure and you won't loose renown your already earned, but you might not earn more renown...
About your second question... I am not sure, but if you stay there long enough, help will eventually arrive. Notice that it takes quite some time before a fighter gets there.

It says "You need to click open with button" When i click it it says windows cant open because it needs to know what program was used to create it. Under that it says "what do you want to do?" 1. find program on internet or 2. select the program from a list. Does that make any sense.

To open the file, use the option to 'Select the program from a list...' then select Notepad from the list.

However, if you are using GWX and you are trying to manually plot the canal, why? GWX has an auto plot option. Before even moving from your starting position, goto the Nav Officers orders and choose 'Plot Search Pattern' there will be an option for Kiel Outbound or Inbound. This will automatically plot the waypoints through the canal in the most optimal way. This will allow you to TC through the canal @ 128 (64 in places).
