Hey Guys.
Noob question here, this still puzzles me. Sometimes when im out on patrol, I have no problem firing off a torpedo and sinking a target. However, sometimes on the same patrol or on the next when I find a new convoy or ship, when I go to fire, it does nothing. Why would that be? Is there something I'm missing? Any help would be great |

If you use silent running and forget to take it off your guys wont reload the torps. Does the firing control show green lights?
Oh Yeah. Welcome to subsim.

Yes make sure the tube you select is ready.
It should have a steady lit light and dont forget to make the settings for that tube (depth, speed, offset) and open the tube door (press Q) prior to firing. If the light is flashing the tube is being loaded. If the light is out the tube is empty. On the torpedo management screen you can see which tubes have torps in them, which ones are loading, and how many in reserves. If you have turned auto loading off you will have to direct your crew as to which torpedoe goes in which tube (drag and drop). |

Cheers for the replies.
Yeah I had the tube's selected and had green lights on all tubes. Since Im only a newbie on this ive got reality settings set pretty low so didn't think there would be a need to worry about depth, speed etc. Would that be true? I did think it was the silent running mode and checked that but I wasn't in silent mode. Gotta be some simple button somewhere that I'm missing. Darnit!. I'll check out those mods Thanks for the welcomes. |

That is a very well known effect of the No-DVD crack. If you are using one, disable it:hmm:

Select which tube you wish to fire (left click and it will "highlight") make your settings for that tube (btw some settings will change as you change tubes). Open that tubes doors ( Q and wait about 5 or seconds) then press the big red round button. Note by default the 'fire torpedo' key is set to the numpad enter key (a horrible choice). Many mods change this to combinations like Control+enter. Personally I click on the button with my mousey. |
