Default Re-:Seagulls & Plankton

Is it possible to remove both if so where & how. And would it make any difference to Frame Rates As my machine runs 17fps in Conning tower 17 to 20 in Control Room and 10 to 12 fps ot the Bridge same for external camera view

I have

AMD 4200.64x2 pro
Nvidia 6600LE
2gb RAM
300GB hard Drive (internal)
500GB hard drive (external)

Any Advice would be Grateful Thankyou in advance Chris

[quote=Hartmann]I don´t know about seagulls but i know how remove the placton, the rocks, plants, and the water moving distortion but i am not sure if it improve famerates.

remove or move to another folder :

placton: misc/impurity.dds
Water distortion: misc/turbulence.dds and underwater_disp_map.dds
Plants and rocks: library\undersea.dat and vegetation_kit.dat

it helps to have a nice and clear screenshots of underwater views, here is one but with underwater rocks

Could be interesting resize the rocks and plants , because are too big and don´t have collition detection. the sub pass through the rocks

In my 2200+ ,Gf6600 gt , 1 gb ddr400 i have between 15 and 25 frames in the navigation mission depending of the view. not very good performance but enough to see the game.
It´s a sligh better in open waters

Here we can see that the limitating factor in frame rates is the graphic card , no the cpu and memory.:hmm:

Good idea!

And is it me or do the Gulls work for the IJN...

Case in point, sneaking into 'any' harbor @ 0300, taking quick scope sightings, and the bloody Gulls are circling me squawking away....Glad the AI Coastal guns and Gun Boats do not clue in on this one... even birds sleep

I demand a mod to change the seagulls to Blue-footed Boobies!

It is a valid ASW technique. To the birds a submarine looks like a school of fish under the water. There are quite a few rotorheads and P-3 drivers that swear by them; so they just might. Now I wonder if the dev team knew that, or it is just a coincidence?

*Under the waves near a task-force consisting of several BS's and carriers and fishing boats the USS Seal lurks*
-Inside the conning tower-

"Up scope"
"Yes Sir, up scope"
*looks around*
"OH SH%T! Crash Dive, ALLLLAAARRRMM, Seagulls sighted!!!!!!"

I noticed the gulls following me while submerged and was fearing the AI might catch on to this. Boat props stur up things like little fish that attact gulls . I don't think when they follow boats they are allways expecting you to thow them potato chips.

Next time I'm making a run on a target near land, remind me to surface for a few minutes and man the AA guns to clear the skies
