Game crashed and scared the *#$ out of me!

Having a great time with the game. Was heading back to Pearl Harbor to conclude my first patrol, pumped time compression to 6000+ and then went to click something on the navigation map. My cursor turned into a white diamond and all my buttons got odd shapes. I decided to see what was happening on the bridge so I clicked to go there and ...

suddenly I got this screen of something like a big doll to the left, and to the right of it a pile of weird stuff with false teeth and an eyeball at the top.

I went to periscope and saw the same stuff.

Couldn't end the game, had to reboot. Strangest experience and NO I WASN'T SMOKIN WACKY WEED

Anybody else seen the weird screen?

:p

At 6000+ unless you are running a Cray you probably overloaded just about every system on your pc.

At 6000+ TC, I doubt even the Cray "Supercomputer" would keep from frying up things on the screen.

@OBarbas,
Smells a little fishy don't you think? +6000 TC ???

I've used 8192 before...as long as you're in wide-open ocean it's not too bad, but I do have a pretty powerful system.

Anything over 2000 TC is a very good chance for Crash & Burn, also possible missed sightings. Some people have no patience whatsoever, everything must be done Yesterday. I did not think SHIV was meant to be a "Shootem' Up-Bang-Bang" with the speed of the gods.

Oh well, back to my slow ( and enjoyable ) simulation.

Ehm, I have no problems whatsoever keeping TC at 8129 (or whatever it is) even near harbors. Sure it goes a bit laggy, but stable and it keeps going. Although I usually try to stay below 1000 when close to traffic.

Have had several bad experiences using high TC, like not being able to lower TC as you approach your base, and running up on the dock. No crashes yet.

1x across the Pacific with no torpedoes? Gimme a break

Hey Elder-Pirate, when you've got no fish left in your tubes and you're off the Japanese islands and have to return to Pearl Harbor to dock and start your next patrol ... mate if you want to cross the Pacific at 1x speed, that's your choice.

I want to get back and reload - at 6000x - and go hunting again - at 1x - not wank myself in front of a computer for 10 days at real time while I sail thousands of nm with no torpedoes. Unless you get off on avoiding a plane every 3 real-time days.

So, enjoy your leisurely game but that's not my cup of tea. :rotfl:

My friend The Belgian ... that picture you put up ...

looks suspiciously similar to what I saw in colour and texture. WTF is it?

I'm running a 2.2GHz dual core Intel with 2 GIG RAM and the latest NVidia GEForce. I've kicked it up to 9000x, no worries, except for this one, strange incident!

Cheers
