Observation Periscope is too dark

I've searched the forum for bugs relating to the observation periscope with no success. Two questions:

-- the view through my observation periscope is so dark - even at high noon - I can't see anything. Am I doing something wrong, or does this need a fix?

-- what is the depth at which I can raise and see through my observation periscope? I tried from normal periscope depth but the observation periscope didn't seem to clear the surface. However, maybe it was the fact that it was so dark I couldn't tell.

Thanks gentlemen!

You did raise it, didn't you? :hmm:

That's the only time I've ever seen a black scope. (when it's not raised, that is )

Your periscope might have been destrtoyed. Otherwise it works just fine from periscope depth, or above.

Try this: while on the surface, press the raise obs periscope button and wait. Switch to obs periscope and see if there's any change at all. Try pressing Insert while you are looking through the scope. If there's no change, you might want to check out the damage control pannel: you might have lost your scope in a recent attack.

If that's not the case you've got some graphical glitch on your hands.

Default I'll give it a try

It couldn't have been destroyed, I tested it at the launch of a patrol. Raised it at high noon both from periscope depth and while cruising surfaced. I'll try hitting insert next time, see if that works. Thanks guys!

"CTRL + Page up" to fully raise the attack scope.
"CTRL + Page down" to fully lower attack scope.

"CTRL + Insert" to fully raise the observation scope.
"CTRL + Delete" to fully lower obs scope.

"CTR + ALT + Delete" to fully......

I know that on one particular sub model, the obs scope would not breach the surface at PD. But you should still see some blurry water effects.

Have you installed patches?

Hi

Have you installed patches? I seem to recall there were periscope issues with the unpatched version of the game.

yours
