Default Resupply?

Maybe this has been touched on before but I'm going to ask anyway. I am using GWX and 1.03 and was in my thrid patrol when I got a radio message saying the resupply ship Thalia is at Cadiz. Is this just for more immersion in the game or can I really get resupplied?

If you look at Cadiz on the map and there is a blue ship name there you can indeed dock and get resupplied. If you hit F1 and bring up the help screen one of the screens will list all the supply ships and milk cows and their availability dates.

So far I think all the messages I've recieved via radio about resupply ships have corresponded with the arrival of actual supply ships in-game, so chances are good.

Remember tough - resupplying at such a ship is just like going to a base - you'll get repaired and new torpedoes, and sometimes you'll spend a long time there if you have damage - which sort of ruins the immersion. In addition, you should complete the mission objective first, or you'll lose out on the renown for completing the mission, because when you've docked at the supply ship you'll start a new mission with destionation NULL.

There is a patch that corrects those two issues: the SH3Patrol mod

You can find it here: http://www.subsim.com/subsim_files/patches05/SH3Patrol1_2A.zip

Or you can use SH3Cmdr to set a new partol grid.

Hitting F1 will tell you where all the re-supply ships are at and when.

Does that count renown wise? I was under the impression you would not get renown unless you started from home base?

No, you will not get any renown for the new grid but at least you have a grid instead of NULL.

Personally, if I use SH3Cmdr to apply a new grid, I pick a grid that's in the same quadrant as my first patrol area. As per RL.
