Hi Ref I figured someone who knew more about it would answer before now,

I am not certain however I Hypothesize that

type selection ie. Torpedo bomber, bomber , fighter, patrol aircraft.
changes the flight profiles available to each type. for a long time
I had wondered if the presence of the torpedo bomber as a distinct
type meant that hidden in the Dll's there was a torpedo attack flight
profile but although I was never able to prove that true. I was able
to observe the distinct flight profiles of the other types.

by way of example make a B24 thats a bomber type and make a squadron
of it and make a B24 thats a Patrol bomber type and make a squadron of it.
both groups will attack differently I think.
M
[edit] also different types of the same aircraft may have different available loadouts as well

Yep you are right about aircraft type= MM but Ref wants to know what the different types are in relation to the loadouts for bombs

Depth charges are a type=5 in addition to the ones mentioned above

I guess no one knows for sure or would have answered
Surprises me you dont know Ref
:rotfl:

The only guess I can make after being bombed is that each type= for bombs dictates how they fall
Spread etc

Dc usually straddle the boat where as bombs either land in a line or pattern

Just a guess though

yeah I never had occasion to study weapons uhm fall patterns I guess.
My bad oops. ( as a canadian Im illiterate in two languages)

M

[edit]
The thing to do is write down the available loadouts for types in mission builder
the info is in there just not on a list.
the example of identical planes of different types should yeild appropriate loadout
comparisons.

The mission ed just shows whats on the aircrafts cfg as a loadout

From looking at stock loadouts

100 and 250kg and 450kg seem to be all type=2

Name=2x100Kg Bombs
Type=2

Name=1x250Kg Bomb
Type=2

Name=2x450Kg Bombs
Type=2

500 kg are type=3

Name=4x500Kg Bombs
Type=3

DC are type=5

Thats it
No type=1 or 4 unless they were left for rockets or air drop torps

Cant find any file with a reference to what makes each type= do what it does though
Have looked for ships before
Must be a reference file somewhere but where :hmm:

hmmmmmmmmmm:hmm:

my postulation was that the bombs sizes of different types were there
ie depth charges available to patrol bombers arent avaialable to
level bombers etc.

but wouldnt the drop profile be in the dat of each weapon.
somewhere, speed altitiude variables and such
mass vs gravity.......................further wouldnt
what hard points it left at what time govern pattern.
is there an actual setting.............one wonders

I guess you're right about the type representing the drop pattern , but there's no indication in any file of sh3 about which is which, and what number of them are available, for what I've seen is 1,2 or 3, and there's no controller on the dat files except for the damage each bomb produces.
The biggest problem I have is time, I currently don't have time to test, I'm too busy importing new units for 1.04

@ Alex, I do ask questions, but most of the time on PMs , after beeing in the comunity for a time, I ussually know who's the most experienced moder in a certain area.

I may have a chance to examine the problem a bit this weekend I have
some mission building to get done and it may provide the opportunity as
part of that.

Have looked all over Ref but that file cant be found
Well least not by me

I had a similar query with the ships
A type=5 ( minesweeper ) for example wont drop DC's
Even if that type=5 is a Black Swan
( I was hoping to add some new type= ie MTB's as say a type=17 instead of as a type=0 , large merchants\small merchants etc)

Something somewhere controls the actions of the type=
