Default Creating fake completed missions ?

Greetings All

I have a problem that I am hoping one of you can help with.

I not long ago completed mission 14. Game crashed while I was stalking a big, fat convoy. For some reason I was never able to recover the game. Every time I tried to reload any of my saves the whole game crashed. Eventually I cut my losses & began a new career.

I was up to mission 11 of my new career & the same thing has happened again & although I love the game I just can't deal with having to start from scratch again.

So, what I am hoping for is that one of you clever people out there can advise me on how I go about creating fake completed missions. It seems to me that it would be a simple matter of creating folders under the careers folder with the necessary completed CFG files etc... but I have tried this to no avail.

Any suggestions would be very welcome & appreciated.

Cheers,

Jay

I too have some crashes when near large convoys or task forces. What I usually do is saving often (e.g. 1 save per hour) when I have the crash, i take the last save but do different things, e.g. attack the convoy from another point. Because I found that if I redo the same things the game crashes again.

Anyway there is no need to scratch the whole career, probably you can reload one of the last saves or begin last patrol again.

Oh, another thing I do is backing up the Careers folder very often, so, if it gets unusable for some reason, I can restore the old one.

Al things needed due to this game being so full of bugs ...

I used to have the same thing, but it stopped when I upgraded/renewed my system. I think it may be a RAM problem. These games are very "memory hungry." Even with 2 Gig there's still "stutter" on the campaign map when I get near a convoy and the game begins to process and render the individual ships.

BTW I've found the best time to save is when you decide to go after a particular target. That way if you do have a CTD you can follow Maraz's advice and vary approach etc; or, if you miss you can have another crack at it; or if those verdammt escorts get you you can re-fight the engagement

Good hunting!

Thanks guys, that's good advice. I should have started doing that the first time I had that problem. I certainly will from now on.

I guess the issue for me is now, because I tend to be a bit hastey with these things I have already deleted both of those previous careers & so I have no choice but to start from scratch.

I did try loading previous missions but the most recent time I had this problem it would fail to load any of the previous saves as well. Grrr.....

Any way, looks like I start again At least I will learn from previous mistakes.

I used to get a lot of crashes also. Here are a couple of things to think about doing.
1. Turn off antivirus programs.
2. Turn off internet.
3. Defrag.
4 clear cookies/files.
5. add memory to system.
6. Video card. Make sure your video card has the proper amount of wattage going to it. I fought crashes .... very irritating and my ati 800xl wasnt getting enough power. I went to 300 watts and got an ati 1650 pro just for kicks. .. no crashes to system yet. I am currently playing gwx. I strongly believe that the issue was the video card and wattage all along. Doesnt hurt to defrag and everything else though. I originally only had about 160 watts on computer.

Hope these ideas help.

Welcome aboard kaleun ozziejay
You can try taking your save game folder out of C\MyDocs and prefacing whatever you named it with an 'x'. Reboot your computer and reinsert the saved game folder.
Sometimes this method works

Good luck
