The German ladies reached the finals again, ready to defend their title as world champion against either olympic winner USA, or Brazil.
It's worth to mention that they are the first team that reached the finals without having received a single goal by the other teams. I have learned to somwewhat like women's football, they play more technical and with less physical violence than their male colleagues. This makes the technical standard of the matches more attractive. I do not like if fouls and physical toughness kills the efforts of good technicians or good team strategy - which by the rules is not what football is about anyway.

Ha! German ladies defeat Brazil 2:0 and become world champions again after 2003, after a high-classed match, where a penalty and a very sharp freekick were defeated by the outstanding German goalie.
It is the first time ever - both in male's and female's football - that a national team makes it through the international championship and wins the title - without getting a single goal by the opposition. ![]() ![]()

I don't watch a lot of womens football, but I admit it was a good game and was played at a very skilful level.

Didn't see the match myself, but I do agree women's teams do seem to play in a better spirit and as for not being as tough, I disagree you hardly ever see the girls rolling around in tears because someone has kicked them like the chaps do.
Does anyone remember,"It's a knockout"? there was an international version and we all used to tune in to see the valkyriesque german ladies. might try and find a bit of stuart hall commentating.
