Default Disappointing End to the War

I just survived for the first time to the end of the war, and it was a true letdown.
I got a few nice words and some lame blather about my career as an industrialist...and thats it. It would have been nice to at least have gone back and cleaned out my office...looked at my medals, the leaderboard, some kind of total of all my sinkings, etc.

I am looking through with the aim of changing at least the hokum about becoming an "Industrialist" to something more realistic to my situation, such as :

"After being welcomed home as a hero, Alas, the after war years were unkind to you....the release of built up tension and worry with massive flows of alcohol and wild behavior had become second nature-and more than your wife could stand. It took many years, lost jobs and spouses before you finally returned to live on a South Pacific Island, earning a small living carving submarine models from exotic woods, beachcombing, and hosting reunions for retired submariners"

But in all seriousness, I hope someone with real talent will look someday into the possibility of modding the End of War/Carreer screen so that it may show medals earned, ships and or tonnage sank, # of patrols etc- End it all with a bit more dignity.....for all I know, my medals and all are still there at that office-mouldering.
I do not know if this is possible, but I believe it to be at least desirable.

My Thanks,

Bam

Open Data\Menu\menu.txt, scroll down to almost the bottom, and you'll find the war end text messages. Edit to your heart's content, and save. I don't know about going back to the office.

BTW, you forgot this part after moving to a South Pacific island:

"...surrounded by beautiful topless native girls,..."

Actually the island thing doesn't sound like a terrible life...be preferable to all those grey suits and meetings you'd have as an industrialist.

Reminds me of 'Pirates', where your eventual fate is determined by your success in the game, yet all the 'high tier' endings were somehow unsatisfying....

Yes, the menu text I have redone this a.m.- I actually did a few text files to cut and paste depending on the severity of my horrid behaviour and/or deserved demise. It's just kind of odd that one cannot get a summation of his career, medals, and sinkings after all one has to go through!

Thank you for your reply, and your suggestion. Might I go one step further and make them "beautiful, willing, topless native girls"?

Bam

Yep, that's why I disliked the "Industrialist" ending....it sounded more like punishment to me!

If I make it to the end of the war this is all I want to see flash on the screen:

I do not care about the rest of it.

I'd like to see something like at the end of the original Red Baron game from Dynamix. If you made it to the armistice, it started playing music with a slide show showing newspaper headlines that the war was over and people were happy and celebrating.

Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe from Lucas Arts showed your staff assistant either celebrating or looking miserable if you won or lost the war in campaign mode and you still got to see your statistics.
