The real reason................

...our German members are so displeased about the world.

It's well known that Germans are crazy about their asparagus. Each spring, every self-respecting German salivates at the thought of cramming as much of the soft white vegetable down his or her gullet as humanly possible. What's less-well-known, however, is that self-respecting Germans would never stoop to harvest the stuff himself.

At least they're not blaming it on George Bush, America in general, or global warming/cooling/climate change(or whatever they're calling it now). :hmm:

Don't for a minute think that your idea isn't coming. Its all the fault of the US and GWB!!

PS I think now its being called climate change. It is a much more nebulous name (warming and cooling) which can be used to the advantage of the left. Lets face it it is about crippling economies which are strong which brings everyone to a socialist (slave) level. Which history and todays Venesuala shows is not workable, without the violence which the left condems when it doesn't suit their goals.

Are you kidding? Of course its GWB! He has been in on the conspiracy to not only get every German hooked on this stuff, but also to then have the harvest under American control! It is all in an effort to get Germans at his beck and call!

He has similar conspricaies happening in each and every other European country except the UK. The UK is already firmly on our side!

It's a sad a-r-s-e that won't rejoice

Suppose I'd better take the poor old Germans side in this, or there won't be anysort of argument.

I've been banging on about this in England I think the Germans have the right idea. You end up with nearly 10% of the population sitting on their fat behinds whilst the remaining 9/10ths work to keep them. Then when there is work to be done they're imported from another country, work the black economy (probably). Send the money back home, so it leaves our economy and go and help themselves to the NHS and other government services. The result is that those who are working have to pay more tax to keep the immigrants.

I do like Asparagus though.

Skybird, what's the German for Asparagus, I'm trying to learn your language and they don't teach you any usefull words

Right off to play on IL2 for a bit.

Asparagus, every time I eat it, I am reminded of it when I hmmmm (oh heck) no when I piss, cause my urine smells like it. That said, I do like it. Eating the asparagus I mean.

Spargel.

Not for me, please, I hate the taste of it. Don't like Sauerkraut any better, while we are at it. I would say that most Germans don't like Sauerkraut, I know and never knew a single one. It's a clichée only that we are crazy for it, deriving from wartimes. It is easy to conserve, is reasonably healthy and lasts long, that made it a good food supply for the troops, and affordable for the population.

Once saw a docu film, a short one, on some speciality they have in Sandinavia, I think it was Iceland or Finland. It is fresh fish, not treated in any way, complete with organs, put into a tin can, and then left for a year. The locals offered it to visitors. the reactions were stunning. One women opened her tin can, immediately turned and started vommiting. Several other faces lost all colour within seconds when picking the smell. Almost all refused to try more than one bite. After that first bite, they showed interesting reactions. One emptioed half a bottle of whiskey or cognac´to get rid of the taste. Another one jumped to the beach and started to fill himself up with the saltwater. Two or three others became very silent and went to the ground. the locals, howver, were laughing, eating their what appeared to be totally rotten fish, and had a good time. I felt sick by just watching the content of those tin cans.
