Default I'm new to silent hunter 3 and...

I've been hearing a lot about the GWX mod that seems to have replaced stock sh3 for everyone, and by the looks of it, it needs a better system to run it than normal sh3. seeing as its a big download could some one in the know have a look at my specs below and tell me if the reckon i'd be able to run it. thanks.

P IV 2.8 ghz
512mb ram
geforce 5200 128mb

You've go the same graphics as me and a similar proccessor. I found it just about ran with 512Mb as soon as I upped the RAM to 1GB it ran like a dream. You might want to look out FSstart on these forums that frees up a whole load of resources.

Also don't be shy of trying out the 16Km mod with GWX didn't drop my frame rates.

Welcome Mate! And Kurt is right, just a few minor changes as he suggest and you're away to the "races".

It runs acceptably (defined as 'playably except when water keeps on washing over the periscope'--is there a way to disable that effect?) on my machine:

1.6ghz Athlon XP (remember those?)
640mb RAM (but it's SDRAM)
Radeon 9600 (probably the best part and it's still crappy)

I feel that if it works for me, nobody else will have any problems. :P

Thats a very handy utility called FSAutostart. It lists all actively running programs and background processes and offers the option to disable quite a few of them to free up valuable memory and processor power.

Linky: http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums...5/m/3201029173

This link provides a download link and a tutorial on how to use the program

You're system should be able to handle SHIII+GWX but to get the best results, if you can afford it that is :P, up the system memory to 1GB Minimum. You may also want to check out the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion found below.

http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html

I cannot sing the praises of this site and the author's guides enough. It takes quite a bit of time to get through, but it will explain system usage and the way 3D applications run, and also give you a better understanding for all the graphics options and what they do, and how to effectivly tweak your hardware and OS to get the best performance.

Having said that, Welcome to Subsim Shipmatey! Best of luck for your first GWX patrol, sink them all!

Welcome aboard sailor. Here is your potato peeler. Fritz is expecting you in the galley.

Like any other community... or family... we have our good days and our bad days.
However, here you will find a common uniform of the virtual submariner.

I hope your stay will be a long one.

Cheers mate.

Why is that everyone new has to peel potatoes?
Why not stand watch lookout when the sun is burning or have beans for 3 days?
Kidding, welcome aboard, sailor. Begin your commander training asap, we got ships to sink...
