Try this link for changing resolution http://www.communitymanuals.com/shii...lay_Resolution and for AA/AF You may use Riva Tuner for better settings then nVidia control panel.

Display Resolution

As installed, SH3 doesn't offer you a choice for a display resolution setting. The game fixes it at 1024 x 768.
To override this limitation, SH3 modmaker Kegetys has developed a DLL file that permits greater display resolutions when playing SH3. Kegetys' SH3 Resolution Override DLL can be downloaded from one of the following links: Make sure you read the enclosed instructions to customize the DLL's configuration file, d3d9.cfg.

For Windows XP SP2 users:
We're not finished yet. In order to get Kegetys' DLL to work, you'll also need to install Microsoft's Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...y/default.mspx) and perform the following procedure to customize it for SH3:
  • On Windows' Start menu, select "All Programs/Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 4.0/Tools" and run the Compatibility Administrator.
  • When the program opens, make sure "New Database" is highlighted under "Custom Databases", and click the "Fix" button.
  • In the "Name of program to be fixed" box, type "SH3". Now, click the browse button, and select the sh3.exe in your SH3 install directory. Then click on the "Next" button.
  • Under "Operating System Modes" select "None" and click the "Next" button.
  • In the "Compatibility Fixes" box, check DelayDLLInit, and click the "Parameters" button.
  • In the "Command Line" box, type "d3d9.dll" and click "OK". (You can click the "Test Run" button to make sure it is working). Click the "Next" button.
  • Click on the "Finish" button. Then click the "Save" button, name it "SH3", and click OK.
  • On the "File" menu, select "Install".
  • Close the Compatibilty Administrator.
  • Enjoy SH3 in high display resolution.

Default What About Screenshots?

I just installed the above method to increase my resolution to 1600 x 1200 and it works great! However, it seems to have changed and degraded the screenshot function. Any ideas?

Yeah the normal print screen will give you a 1024x1024 picture of the center of the screen. Just press the print screen button for tga screenies

The only thing that annoys me about this mod is that you can't alt-tab... and this has caused me to stop using it time and time again because it's just inconvenient. I just crank up AF and AA instead. Though I'll give it another shot when my new graphics card arrives.

I'm a bit of a latecomer to this thread, but I've just bought myself a new ASUS 22" widescreen monitor ( ), and need to run in 1650x1080, and this fix doesn't work for me.

I have run it properly, letter for letter. The only changes being that:

a) I'm running Vista - M$ say the application comp. toolkit works fine with Vista

b) My SH3 install is heavily modded. Do I need to rollback SH3C and uninstall all my mods before running it? One would think not, as it changes the .exe not any of the data files...

I only edited the cfg file to have the correct res. I didn't change anything else. Do I need to comment the lines with the res settings in or something?

Any help greatfully received.

Ta.

To change the resolution in Windows XP SP2, you don't need to install the Microsoft's Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit. It is enough to use the files included in this link:

http://rapidshare.com/files/31171066..._1.4b.zip.html

Try them. It is much easier that way !!!

Another annoyance of the hires mod is that the cursor disappears at the bottom and right of the screen, the higher the res the further the mouse cursor will travel off the screen.
Thought: If the cursor is still moving over the entire screen at 1024x768 and anything higher the cursor is off the screen, the displayed picture on the screen must be 1024x768, not the higher res, or is it, quite a mind boggler!!
I wish there was a fix for this but I think it's hard coded!!

I could use some help with this please.

I was trying the older version of the fix Ihad (the one with the compatability tool usage) and it wasn't working, so I tried the new one with the 1.4b tag.

I'm pretty computer savvy, so I know I've done everything right, but the same thing happens to me with both res fixes..

The game loads fine, I get the GWX intro movie (the wolf), then I get the SH3 opening movie, then when it goes to the next loading screen, I can tell my resolution changes by the size of my mouse cursor that I can see, but the screen behind it is all black, and never recovers.

I can see the mouse, move it all around, it's at the right resolution, but where I should be seeing the loading screen with the torpedo and the red line across the bottom, I only have black screen.

I've tried to set it to my Monitors native 1680x1050 , and the resolution that the d3d9.cfg comes as (1280x960?) and the same thing happens each time.

Can anyone offer any help on this?

Please and Thank you.

Txema
Txema has right - download this file, read readme.txt and install. Everything work fine, I use it. This is the simplest way for use higher resolutions.

Still trying to figure out what's wrong on my end.

I have all my games (including SH3) on a seperate, secondary drive (not my OS C: drive).

Is it possible that I need to install the Res fix batch files in my C: Documents and settings/SH3 folder (where the main.cfg resolution file is) instead of my installed SH3.exe is? (F: Program files/UBisoft/SH3)

Other than that, I know I'm doing everything right, but there's a conflict somewhere.

I'll also note that, res fix aside, I can go into my Main.cfg file in the documents and settings folder, and manually change the resolution noted thee, and it has no effect on the game setting.

Hi!

I followed the readme instructions exactly and it worked OK for me. The ALT-TAB leaves me at the desktop with a minimized SH3 on the task bar.
