Default Do you experience CTDs ?

It appears as if some people experience CTDs and some people don't. So i've added this Poll in order to try and get some visibility on the problem.

Personally, i've never had a CTD but I know its a painfull issue for some.

ZERO on 1.2
Overall, exactly one, my first day. I don't remember specifically, but it was probably the "A" key.

Yes, and I would like to keep this out of the bug list for patch 1.3, I do not believe CTD are caused by bugs.....IMHO.

I have had three:

"A" key (once)......known bug that was corrected
Under heavy weather and a convoy present (twice)....clean up hard drive and internet junk......never had any since.

Over 100 hour of play.

Never, only testing mods and stuff, and once or twice when setting TC to 8000 in harbour maybe.

I get one every now and again but it's pretty rare.

Only one, and that was the "A" key.
Now fixed

Only one over the course of two or three complete patrols.

It happened by moving from the nav map under high time compression directly to the bridge without manually dropping to 1x first like I usually do. No biggie.

Since 1.2 the only CTD I have had was switching to the bridge from the map screen but rare(twice). Other then that nada.

A CTD now and again, seems to be sound related. Change screens with a sound playing and sometimes the sound starts to loop and CTD follows.

2-3 times, once the " A " key, the others more related to my computer, lots of game play here, so.... it has not been a big deal for me.

I have experienced CTDs ever since I've had the game but it isn't as bad since patch 1.2 was installed. The last time was when I was in map room under high time compression and choosing to go to periscope depth after receiving a message that aircraft were spotted. It DID drop me to normal speed, however, before I chose to go to periscope depth but still crashed.

This is my only experience with CTDs.
After playing the game for several weeks, I started getting CTDs also. I was trying to head back to base, and couldn't make it very far before I puked.

Long story short, I looked at the event file and found that the module that was causing the crash was sound.act. Renamed it and tried again.
Crashed after loading and getting to the main menu. Checked events again and found the file shsound.act was the culprit. Renamed it and tried again.

I was able to load up the game + my save game and make it back to Pearl with no problems (no sound, either). Saved the game and:

Rebooted
Defraged
Re-installed patch 1.2
Rebooted

The patch replaced the 2 files that I had renamed and the game runs fine (with sound) and no more heartache. In fact, I regularly leave it running (paused) at night when I go to bed and I don't get back to it until after work the next day.

Give the event viewer a try and see what you come up with.
