Default AC vs TC

On a return trip to Perl I had enough of the air attacks and started pumping the plus key on the numpad to increase or keep up the TC. Well it seems that if you keep the rate up high enough the air attack is no longer effective.

I tested this out again on the way out for the next patrol and same results were received.

Fast TC will cancel aircraft attack.

Not always. I have been sunk and crippled for ignoring them.

I got spotted by one plane once, the game dropped to real-time, but the plane had passed me by by then. I cranked up TC again and continued, and a few seconds later (minutes in game) the TC went back to normal, and I found myself under two Betty's or whatever those big-a$$ed planes are called, and they'd both just dropped their load over me. Too late for a crash dive. Patrol over.

My best guess is that my first encounter was with a Zero, and there's little he could do to my sub, except drop some water balloons over my scope, if he even saw it.

In my case, my game always takes me out of TC, however high it is, if my crew spots a plane. Once spotted, if it's a Zero then you could crank up the TC again, 'cause he can't do squat. But if it's a Betty or the other type, dive first and THEN crank up the TC.
