Hello,
I am close to throwing SH4 away. I am stuck in my career, not being able to end my patrol. It is my 6th patrol (I think) - starting in Brisbane -and I was first asked to patrol Caroline Islands, which I did and after completing this objective (plus the requirement to sink shipping). An objective was added to patrol the Bismarck Sea - which I have done - includinmg sinking heaps of shipping, including a complete convoy, - destroyers and all. I have also reported severall convoys and followed instructions as well as done status reports. I have completed the added objective of sinking freighters in the Bismarck Sea. I spent at least a week or two there (having refitted wirh torps and fuel in the Solomons). But no matter what I do, the game lists the objective "patrol Bismarck sea" as incomplete and the option "finish patrol" can not be activated when I return to Brisbane (I can refit). I have tried to redirect to Pearl etc. but no cigar and I have been careful reading instruction, i.e. no orders to dock somewhere else (and I have tried anyway). Please help - I am about to remove this game from my drive. Very frustrated... ![]() |

ok mate here is my suggestion - it has been said that you have to go to the star on the map and hang out there for at least 48 hours... i think you have to be within 50 nm of it IIRC but just to be sure go to the star on the map right ON it and hang out for a full 48 to 50 hours...
if that doesnt work come back and let us know.

You need to stay within 100 nautical miles (180 km) of your target objective for 48 hrs.

Thanks. I thought I had stayed more then enough in the area close to the star... but yeah, when I parked on it for a few days it finally turned gray. However, I could still not end my patrol in Brisbane (where I had started from) and there were certainly no messages telling me to change basen at any stage of the patrol.
I first tried Pearl, but no cigar, finally went go Freemantle, where I could end the patrol (in early 1943) - just so I promptly was forced to retire. What a load of crap. I wont play this game for a while - if wever again. Spent 90 Australian $ for a gae that is worse then SH3..... |

Yes, the port changed. I'm most certain there WAS a radio message from COMSUBPAC, but you must've missed it - I know i did, I was engaging a convoy at that time.
Here is the file to check for reassignment: C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name >\My Documents\SH4\data\cfg\SaveGames\<most recent save folder here>\SaveData.rmr Open up that file with Notepad and search through it and you'll see any base change, i.e.: Quote: [Log Entry 2] Type=0 EntryText=From: COMSUBSOWESPAC|To: ASIATIC FLEET BOATS|EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY SHIFT BASE OF OPERATIONS TO PERTH FREMANTLE ON WESTERN AUSTRALIA X EntryTitle=18:01 Operational News Date=19420225 Time=1801 Categ=3 You can also open up, in Notepad: mydocuments/sh4/data/cfg/savegames/<savegame folder>/careertrack.upc search the text for CSS_BaseChange the LAST OCCURENCE (bottom of file) of this text will be the base that you can dock at and look something like this: [CareerTrack 1.CareerStatusSave 29] ID=ID Reason=CSS_BaseChange NameDisplayable= CurrentDate=1942-04-24 00:00:00 BaseIDLink=Brisbane So in this case my base will be Brisbane and i would be allowed to end my patrol there.

Reassignment is a bear if you miss the msg. As for being promptly retired - there are 2 causes. One is an option where you can spend renown to keep playing - the other is a bug where your original sub class is retired and you go with it - even though your in a different type sub now. There are fixes for this in the forums (check modder forum for it) and enjoy without being forced to a desk job.
