Hello,
I was re-reading the subsim almanac 2k7 and about the guy who played in real time and he says that his sonar picked up ships and then he submerged. I usually take the sonar dude off and put him in the quarters while we are surfaced. And I do the opposite with the radio guy. Is it possible to use the sonar guy while on the surface? I have noticed once, I forgot to take him off his post when we surfaced, but it was in a huge storm, and when we would bob up and down sometimes to 12m, he would pick up ships. Besides being in a storm, is it worth it to keep him on-duty while surfaced? thanks |

Surface sonar was corrected a patch or two ago, at least while in calm weather.
I keep both radio and sonar guy at their post always, for the sole reason of keeping the efficiency bar at maximum. |

The action of the sub in a storm naturally means at times it will dip below 10 metres (especially in storm conditions). Your only alternative is to take the sound guy off station

I've also observed that if you ask the sonar guy to track the nearest warship or contact whilst you are submerged and then you surface, he will continue to track the contact. A bit of a cheat I know
