And all I can say is...wow...it's easier than I figured...but alot more frustrating when you screw up...which happened shortly afterwards...
I figure I'm not ready to go fully manual yet...just had a taste of what it feels like...and yes it's rewarding...but...I prefer the point and click style...for now atleast...but it was fun I'll give you guys that much. And for those of you that go 100%...I bow down to you... |

Good for you!
Manual targetting is much more rewarding, but as you say, it does mean you miss quite a bit too, which is a bummer. Still, it does lead to more realistic tonnages that match the real-life figures a bit more closely; so it makes the sim a lot more of a challenge in that respect too. ![]() |

I started playing with full realism but i think i cannot do without the map updating... How can one manage that? No contacts on either maps. So whats the point of the maps? Isnt the crew part of doing that?

Good job!!!
If you are afraid of missing, you might use two torpedoes, one aimed slightly to the bow, the other slightly to the stern. In other words, one at 1/3 ship length, the other at 2/3 ship length. So, if your aim is good you have an almost sure kill, if it is bad you still have good chances of hitting with one of the two torpedoes. Maraz |

Just keep doing it, you will get better.
Fire from about 700 meters is best imo. And read a lot on this forum, there's a lot to learn here. |

Nice going Fair Weather....
The satisfaction from a manual targeted kill is so much bigger than a point and shooted one..... When pointing and shooting SH III is like a very slow fps.... And for those who don't know it already: very comprehensive reading about manual targeting here:

I think the first step to 100% is making manual targeting with contacts updated on map. You play a while with this setting and always switch between periscope and attack map to see if your target soulution makes sense. This is a good training. If you feel comfortable with it and it gets "boring" try to switch map contacts off...
