not like the way you suggested.

you can add extra torpedos to achieve your goal if you want more torps.

if you just want to move them from aft to rear if needed, i don't think the game allows that to happen.

i read that it could be done in real life but i'm not sure if it was practical.

Yes, I've also heard it wasnt done in RL. The first problem would be the amount of space it takes to turn the torpedo around. And of course, the lack of machinery & the unstable platform.

That's how the milk cows did it.

Yes, it was done in real life. Some torpedos were floated with life jackets. IIRC it was written about in the book Teddy Suhren: Ace of Aces, Memoirs of a U-boat Rebel (ISBN: 1591148510). Prior to meeting a supply ship, he practiced floating an aft torpedo to the bow and back with life jackets.

The procedure went something like this: hoisted aft torpedo out of the canister and placed life jackets all around it. Flooded the stern tanks and floated the torpedo off and then floated it to the bow. Flooded bow tanks and floated torpedo into position for loading in bow hatch and then blew the forward tanks to raise bow and torpedo out of the water.

Me too, still it was about as time-consuming and dangerous as loading external torps I would think. :hmm:

However in RL it wouldn't have been possible to transfer aft torpedeoes from INSIDE the boat into the bow tubes. Using external aft torpedoes for the bow was possible but wasn't done often, because it was too much and dangerous work. Late in the war the boats didn't carry externals anymore anyway because the danger of being surprised by aircraft when loading was too high.
