problem installing GWE on my brother's pc

Hi everyone,

I uninstalled silent hunter 3, and then re-installed on my brother's pc, before trying to install the patch as detailed in the GWE manual, in preperation for installing the GWE mod.
However, I got the following error message:

This program cannot update the installed version of silent hunter III EMEA DVD v1.0 to v1.03 because of the following reason:
C:\ProgramFiles\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter III\MissionEngine.dll: unknown version

Can anyone please help?

Do you use the correct patch version? There are four different patches from Ubisoft. Two American ones (Download and DVD) and two European (Download and DVD)

Try deleting the MissionEngine.dll in question and try again

The patch i used was the 1.4b patch for the Europen DVD version of the game.

It worked fine on my computer.

I might try using the same silent hunter III game DVD to install on his system in case it differs in some way from the other one.

I assumed there would be additional silent hunter III files to remove in my documents, but i couldn't see any!?

There is a folder in my documents called SH3
