Crashes in Carrier mode

I have a laptop for playing games on,like Oblivion, Vanguard, Flight Simulator X,working perfectly well,but in SH4 when im entering carrier mode,after a 5-10 minutes my hole laptop turns off. Know, i have all drivers update and the computer works perfectly well,its just sh4 this happens. Any suggestions?

Laptops are the bottom of the list for recommended computers to use to play the SH3 and SH4 sims. They may be just as powerful, etc., but heat is a big factor. The more graphics you dial in, the more heat is developed by the card. Compare the area of a laptop to the area of a tower. Compare how much more room you have for fans and the circulation of air inside the tower case. Too much heat, and just like a person, the unit will shutdown/pass out. Since it happens after 5-10 minutes, I'd say that heat builds up to the failsafe/shutdown mode. Some people can get away with it but they're few and far between. It depends on the make, model of the laptop, the make, model of the graphics card, etc. No different than the game itself. Some people, even with all the bugs, can play the game right out of the box, whereas the majority of the gamers suffer CTDs, freezeups, poor graphics or sound, etc.

I think its overheating, after which it will do a safety-auto-shutoff. Laptops are not built for gaming.

bull****t. This is a gamer laptop,where i am doing fsx and oblivon 4 perfectly well without any crashes.Know,imagine fx10 which has awesome graphic,the best you can get, and my computer runs it perfectly. This is a game issue. 2 year ago maybe that statement could be true, but know you have gamers laptops.

This is a game issues.I have a program to watch the heat of the processors of both of the gamecards and processor,where both are under 50%.

Well,i give this Silent hunter 4 up. Its not only that problem i have, random crashes all the time,on my BOTH computer, i also have a station pc.But im sure some of you also will say its wrong with my second computer? Which also have the newest drivers, etc? Well,it might be a good rescue from the programmer to say that all of the bugs is from the computers.But, i dont buy that. This game is still a beta game. It should never have been released.The graphic is a little better than sh3,In fact, why play sh4 which are not working 100% when sh3 do?

Despite popular opinion, Try turning off vertical sync both on the card and via the cfg file. I am using a D810 equipped with the X600 card and 1 gig of RAM and believe it or not it works fine...mostly. I have none of the eye candy enabled but when I turned on vertical sync it would crash. Frequently.

I agree, SH4 is full of bugs, but I have found not an instable game. I had instability when I patched from 1.1 to 1.2, but after reinstalling and going straight to 1.2, that instability is gone.

As far as the problems with you normal pc go: post your specs. There are plenty of helpful people here willing to assist you in finally enjoying the game, for all its faults.

Regarding you laptop. I know there are things out there called "gamers" laptops. I really want to believe you, but I have seen enough trouble in my time involving games on laptops. And that includes both excellent laptops as well as perfect games with regard to stability. My advice: don't use laptops for gaming, EVER. If that makes me biassed, so be it, but you're the one with the problems .

+This is not my mother language. Thats Norwegians. Sorry about my terrible writings.

Anyway,with my 15 games running without any problem on my laptop, which includes fsx,trainz 2006,Vanguard Saga of heroes, World of warcraft, Trainz 2006,Medieval II and so on, only sh4 has been a problem. The thing that
is quit funny is that SH4 has just a little improvement talking about graphics, its not the worse i have seen but not the best either.

Im tired of changing .cfg files, doing that, doing this, a fix here, only to see that nothing works. I'll maybe be back in a 6 moonth, after patch 1.10 or something.I just dont have time anymore wasting to actually getting a game to work,i have better things to do.I have two perfectly computers, which has few problems , both of theme has problems with sh4. Thats enough conclusion for me. It tells me: This is a game not working. Its a beta game.

I was wondering when this forum would receive this kind of thread which I have seen on every game forum I have visited.

This game S#*&^s! all my other games work on my compurter.

Without a DX diag and a good description of how you installed the game and what patch you are running etc etc. No one could possibly help you with trouble shooting this game. Nor can anyone here help you if you have discounted the fact that it could be a driver or hardware issue.

Running patch 1.2. Installed over 1.1 I read that uninstalling the game, then patching it right to 1.2 will help. Impressing! Maybe, when i got some hollyday free,i'll do that.

I am currently at work so i dont have the dx diag avaible here. However,im a pc freak, updating everything and makes sure the pc's works well. When i buy a game, the first thing i want is to play it. Not using time on getting it to work. Belive me, i have used more time tryed to fix this sh4 to work,than actually playing it. No more Back to sh3.
