Default Shore Leave ... I've Had Enough ..

Shore Leave ... I've Had Enough ..

1.2, Now before anyone blames the mods I have, the items I about to mention worked with these mods in play.

Updated to 1.02. Started a fresh Career. PH Dec9th 1941.

1st Mission Start outside docks.

1. I look at the Nav Map to plot my course to MW, NM as per pics we have all seen on this and other forums.

I can only dock and end mission, I start 2nd mission early Jan 42, NM is back to normal. yeah!

2. Get to MW refuel.

I sail on to the coast of Japan to start my patrol, about 2000km from my Patrol Area (star) I come across a small convoy, I plot there headings and get into position, I press P to take me to PsD all that happens is my engine speed goes to 0 the needle that was pointing to Ahead 2/3 goes to All Stop. Same thing happened with the PsD icon all that did was the same as pressing the P key, no dive just engine stops.

I save the game and take a break, I come back and restart the game and what do you know, when I press the P key or hit the PsD icon on the toolbar, I dive to Pscope depth? Go figure!

So I'm happy again, I let the convoy go and make way to my Patrol Area, I get to the grid with the Star and it changes to grey and I get new orders.

I start patrolling and come across a single ship, I plot its course and lay in wait at PsD ( Pkey and Dive Icon working). I lock the ship (playing at 73% all boxes ticked bar Manual Targetting and Contact Map) the lock icon goes green and I press the Red Fire button, nothing! just a dull clicking, no "Torp in the water" I'm pressing Fire all the way through Green to Yellow even trying all 6 bow tubes all the same.

As I turn to port to line up a stern shot, when I get the lock to Yellow I again press the Red Fire button. This time unlike the bow tubes I get "can't compute firing solution" or whatever was said, something like that! I gave up and quit out the game saving it at that point.

Tonight I went back into it, P key and Dive icon were working and when I got a shot lined up on a ship, yes you guest it the torps all worked. (No this was nothing to do with crew fatigue or them all sleeping or not have as one fellow Subsim Capt suggested, did I have any torps loaded as Refit at MW left him with none loaded)

So , 2nd mission is now a go, my dive key and icon are working and my torps are working to, I checked the crew and they were tired about 50/100 but they still loaded and fired the torps. Funny thing though , at one point the 3 crew on duty were at 44/100 and were the 2nd watch crew and the sleeping torp crew were at 44/100 also, so where the 3 watches of the engine room/control room and bow torp room. Strange.

Anyway, back to my now Go'er 2nd mission. 2 ships sunk so a little save is in order. Game saved on I go, AIRCRAFT SPOTTED! C key ! Crash dive! Nope all that did was Stop my engines. Not again! yes again.

I then tried the P key it was back to its bad old Stopping my engines too.. what the FECK! I used my mouse to click on the depth gauge to take me down but that was slow and the Betty was now flying over me! Oh god... Nothing?

Nothing? heavy sea all white foam and my all black tub still bobbing up and down on it? maybe see can't see me.. Broad daylight (midday sun beating down) no way can she not see my boat..

Pressed some TC here she comes back again, here we go! and there she goes!

Ok lets try this, TC about 30mins later 2 Vals, right over me just like the betty , they turn back and back over me and nothing, no bombing or straffing. I plotted a straight line and TC about every 30mins 1 or 2 planes would appear fly over me , turn back and do it again, then head off...

That was it , shore leave for me ...

P key C key and dive icons not working, save and come back to it later and low and behold, they are working again. Same mission, what now! torps won't fire.. quit out the game, back again to the same mission later and now the torps are firing!

Dive keys and icons working, torps firing. Sink 2 ships and save the game and resume, sail on and what do you know after the save the dive keys and icons are fecked again... Not only that the aircraft don't attack me, 4 TC hrs and 8 sets of planes and not one attack!

Saving and refits are doing strange things to the game... 1st keys and icons don't work , then they do.. then torps won't fire, then they do, save the game after a couple of sinkings and the keys are messed up again. And not only that, aircraft won't attack my sub...

Seems the more they fix A/B/C then up pops more faults D/E/F, I worked with programmers at IBM, I was in Finance but I got to know several as the system the manufacturing were using was being added to over the years and the strain on the system told. You fix one string of commands or add on new ones and somewhere down the program line it will mess something up..

I understand its not easy , but they must test these patches, don't they?????

Indeed I had one tonight where I got hammered after leaving Marshell after a refit (refule) and headed for china sea.

I wasent 75knm from Marshel when the bombers started harrasing me ? where they came from who knows.

In spite of my valient crew getting boat down we got hammered.... return to Marshel for repairs.

Return to mission.. all is fine.. daylight comes and we go deep to avoid harrasment...

Night time comes we surface to get fresh air and recharge batteries... except... the batteries wont take a charge...

Nope they wont take a charge no matter what crew is where... I tried diving / resurfacing, turned the charge button on and off and on again... no joy..

Lets start with how you handled the patches and installation. The reason I ask this is this. I loaded the game the day it came out. I dropped in the green light key mod and reduced radio traffic mod. Game was fine. All buttons worked. Patch 1.2 came out a day or so ago. Instead of wiping the game clean and start loading all over again, I simply loaded the patch into the game. I started a fresh career. All my buttons and keys work. So, how did you do the installation?

I don't know if this is related, but I had a heck of a time getting some commands to work in my sub periodically. One time I could not get the engines to fire up or anything while I sat in the middle of the Pacific dead in the water. It turned out for a very lengthy time (a few days) I had forgotten to relieve the crew from battle stations after a previous battle. Once I did relieve them, everything began to work normally again.

I have problems getting the crew to execute orders, but I am assuming there is a "command queue" that will only perform one thing at a time.

Had the same problem with Operation: Flashpoint when crewing vehicles. Commanding the driver to turn left and increase speed, then designating a target for the gunner to track and destroy is something that takes quite some time.

I know it won't make anyone feel any better, my sim works great but when something
weird does happen I just pretend its all part of the immersion factor...if I can't dive, its a malfunction, if I can't fire, its a malfunction...like they say **** happens

Saved; my s-boat was in fine condition.

I come home tonight and pick up where I left off...and walked onboard a nightmare.

Flooding in engine rooms, control room, and fore torpedo room, periscope destroyed, all torpedoes fired, sonar taken out.

And somehow, while running SUBMEREGED......I ran out of diesel fuel. Did my XO install a snorkel in mid patrol while I was asleep?

If it's worth anything, I haven't experience any of those problems you have described after installing 1.2. Its not to say it wont happen soon, but maybe something just went bad in your installation?

I think (this happened to me) that sometimes the install of the game
or patch (maybe mods) doesn't go right and causes very strange things
to happen (maybe over & over). If you are having this kind of trouble,
I suggest you do what I ended up doing. Uninstall everything and start
all over again. It worked for me. All it takes is a little extra time....

I'm only using a few mods that are handled with Jsgme. Before updating to 1.2, I backed out the mods, installed 1.2, then activated the mods again through Jsgme. The Battle Station and Silent running mod to all icons is great My previous saved career wouldn't load, so I started a new one.

Added Berrys new Fleetboat mod through Jsgme too. Since it has the green light mod built in, I backed out the single mod.

I haven't changed any files manually, but I need to find a way to fix that southern heading radar bug. The boat just can't get down fast enough when an aircraft is spotted visually

If the save games are still buggy, I recall that all the way back to SH2. Must be some root code that UBI is still using.
