Default Is it Me?

Love SHIII and GW. Just got SHIV. Crew members look like they just escaped from the chain gang. They mumble their dialogue with little sync. They aren't even smart enough to don foul-weather gear in a raging gale. They still have the casual jeans look. Whole reality seems more like a cartoon than the realistic world of SHIII. Oh, also, Pearl Harbor doesn't seem to be too bad off on Dec. 9, 1941. Very Disney.

Then: am I missing something? No torps shown on Nav map when running; no second window to show torps' final approach and detonation; and the TBT, TDC don't have great documentation in the manual. Really miss the TDC view, as in SHIII. Guess I'll wait for someone to post a credible online tutorial...Also, am I supposed to have any read-out of the estimated time of damage repair? Seems like "they're working on it" but you just have to wait to see when things come back on line.

Hope that patches (and mods) are coming, but SHIII GWX seems, to me, far more realistic, rich and responsive.

In SH3 Kiel and Wilhelmshaven looked very well throughout the game, even though both cities were heavily bombed during WWII and suffered far more damage than Pearl Harbor.

The event camera is in the game, it's only deactivated if you choose any difficulty that is not 'easy'

I don't know about your manual, but the manual aiming for torpedoes is explained quite well in my manual (actually, it's the ONLY thing that is explained well at all). I'm using the European version.

The rest of your complaints has been mentioned several times already. Most people around agree that SH IV has been rushed to the shelves and feels incomplete in many aspects. However, the developers are eager to bring SH IV into a worthy status, and of course all of us benefit from a very active modding community.

So, as with SH 3 just sit back, relax and wait a wee bit. In time we'll see the necessary patches as well as great mods that will enhance gameplay.
