Finding survivors?

I'm on my first lifeguard duty mission in my little S-34. I managed to find the first surviver swimmer easily, but now I haven't found a single other person while traveling at flank speed to each contact as I see them. They seem to have just disapeared. I've found one or two other posts about this subject subject but no resolutions on if it's a bug or not. Is there a forum search feature here or what? (edit oh now I see it I just registered before posting this). Okay... figured out how to find them with sonar.. finally accomplished the mission to go back to base and be sent on ANOTHER LIFEGUARD MISSION! AH!!
