Not until after ubi is done patching it.

In your position, i would wait until then. No single game is worth buying new hardware for in my opinion. However, you really should upgrade regardless. I had a 9800 pro for the longest time, loved that card, but felt compelled to replace it well over a year ago.

That's a question only you can answer, really, but since you asked....

I've been critical of SH4 of late and I believe with good reason. However, having said that, I've also maintained on these boards time and again that when SH4 is fixed up it will likely outshine SH3 and set a new benchmark for submarine sims.

So, yeah, I think you should upgrade to play this game. Just be patient, though, and wait for the patches....

No game 'should' be worth upgrading hardware for.. but it's definitely what motivates me to do it!

Infact my first ever PC was bought because I saw Aces of the Pacific in a computer shop and was so impressed by the screenshots and description of the game I bought it even though I didn't own a PC. The following weekend I spent £1500 on a 486DX/33 with 4 meg ram to run it on.

Sometimes a game/sim comes along and logic just goes all out the window

Whether you should upgrade for SH4? I would.. but there are plenty of people here that would probably tell you it wouldn't be worth it if you can run SH3 with mods.. best option is to decide for yourself based on reviews and forum comments if the outlay is worth it to you. You'll have to upgrade soon though, because more and more games coming out just won't run well on anything but a newer model card.

That depends on whether or not SH4 will be the last game you ever buy?
If you are an avid gamer like most of us, you will continue to buy games
that get better and better requiring upgrades (sooner or later) to your
PC. So, with that lesson in mind, you can make your decision !!

I spent over $300 on a power supply and new vid card to play SHIV. Having said that, there are other games coming out that needed the extra video power on the horizon so I'll be set for them too.

If necessary, SH4 is one of those titles that warrants a whole system upgrade. Well, at least that's how I see it.
