Ahoy Mates.
I just finished downloading GWX... I do have one concern before I totally overwrite anything in my SH3 folder. Is GWX suited to the Light-Sub Captain or best just left to the Die-hard, Salty-Dog Submariners? For example I don't know how to manually plot a torpedo trajectory, nor do I intend to EVER do that. I barely passed trigonometry and math and have a downright HATE towards anything that requires math... I'm like that, I'm 43, and I don't plan on changing... When I play a game I like to relax, so you could say I'm a Sub Captain Light. Should I or should I not install and play GWX? Your input will be much appreciated. Cheers! |

gwx just makes the game a bit harder, and adds a lot of interesting features. None of which will make you do any extra math though.
PS; manual targeting does not require any math beyond simple angles. you should give it a try, its quite fun

Thanks for the very fast reply my friend.
![]() Is there an outline, other than the manual that explains just how hard and in which areas it makes the game more challenging? Manual Targeting: I have tried it, and it's not my thing, at all. Angles have to do with numbers, numbers are managed by the left side of my brain, which is technically inactive since I was 4. I prefer painting, drawing, sculpting, designing... It is my personal philosophy that numbers are for machines, not people... At least not me. Not fun for ME. |

@ dbolivar, using GWX does not mean that you are forced to use manual targetting or plotting.
That being the case... what is the aim of your poll? |

Do you have a problem that I've created the poll? Or are polls reserved to a certain group, mind set or affiliation? Do I have to be Polish to post a poll? Please advise. |

I'm happily using GWX without having to worry about numbers.
About the only number-intensive (if you can call it that) workout I get is plotting an intercept course when I get updates on the map, but that requirement is also present in stock SH3 as well. Even then I discovered this neat-o method that utilises some of the mapping tools, and is quite accurate. So intercepting contacts is not a problem. Go for it, GWX makes the game much more interesting. Certainly more difficult (in realism terms, not number crunching) than stock, but I also find it quite enjoyable. ![]() |

Are you reading my question to you as a personal attack? It would seem so. If so, I would say that you are jumping to conclusions prematurely. I asked a reasonable question to determine the underlying need that you felt to post a poll that concerns GWX. If it concerns GWX, it can be reasonable to assume that it may concern me. ![]() |

I don't need a poll on mods for any game.
I'm 49, I install, if I don't like, I uninstall. Being 49, I don't take well to others telling me what I should install. Course, when I was a young 43, maybe I couldn't make up my own mind? :hmm: I don't remember! :rotfl: :rotfl: |

You see I don't mind taking advise from folks that know more than I, regardless of their age. And I certainly do not find joy in indirectly suggesting that others, due to lesser age, are weak minded due to their careful undertaking of what they place or do not on their machines. I am very happy that you have time to install, test uninstall, things all day. I, good Sir, do not. Reason for my post, and poll. It has absolutely nothing to do with not being able to make up my mind. I reserve higher thinking to higher needs by the way. I am going to give GWX a try... if I don't liek it, I'll just uninstall it! :P |

No worries.
Manual targetting is something that we do need to explain better for GWX in the manual with the update that is in the works. If you do install GWX, the manual will explain all significant changes. You can find the GWX manual ('das Buch') in your SilentHunterIII/documentation folder. Concerning player game mechanics / player control of the game itself. We made great efforts to make sure that it remained/remains intuitive for those making the jump from stock SH3. Events that happen external to the U-boat that do not require input from the player... Well, that is naturally an entirely different animal. BwaHAHAHAHAHAAAaaa!!!! ![]() At any rate... a player only has to use complicated math if he chooses to. |

I ment my post as a sorta tounge in cheek thing.
![]() If I offended you, I'm sorry. That's what the rolly thingys are for. After you are around awhile, you'll find us like the neighborhood bar. ![]() Go ahead and install GWX. You will like it. And you can still start on 28 % realizum till you get better. And like you, MATH to me, is harder then flying to the moon by flapping my arms!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: And I make a liveing off of square foot? :hmm: |

Excellent Kpt. Lehmann!
Thank you for such hard work, I can tell you put a lot of effort into creating an accurate reproduction by just reading the manual. My curiosity compels me to install the MOD. I am sure to enjoy the fruits of your labor. KUDOS to everyone involved! |
