help with finding the real gwx download

ok i've been gone for a month and after a defrag i was downloading sh3 when my gwx cd fell apart, the mirror just peeled off. i guess thats what they mean by discount media lol. i'm looking looking for the latest full version gwx download and the gwx team approved patches that are truely compatable. after that i can experiment with the other tweaks. can you please point the way?

i thought by now there would be a non torrent version incorporating the updates 101 102 and 103 but i guess not.

it's just getting to be a thousand different downloads you need.

and i hate when compatability issues force me to reload the whloe game.

I have to admit, the only reason I dont have GWX to date is because I simply dont have the patience to arrange and install all the files. Thats not a knock to the creators, who have obviously produced a fine product that people rave about. I just wish I could buy it on CD or download an executable installer for it.

the only download i find is torrent style and after 48hours of trying i have 26kb of info and at this rate i'll never finish it. since sh4 came out nobody seeds that file anymore.

it would be faster to drive to another state and download it straight off someone elses computer

Errr, no. There are other links below the torrent that have it. They just list multiple mirrors for the file. I personally got mine from the Filefront mirrors and waited only as long as it took for me to download at 500kb+ per. (so maybe 30 minutes or slightly more for the whole thing, downloading 2 pieces at a time).

First off make sure you have SHIII patched up to 1.4b. After that there is the .exe file, and then there are 5 .bin files. Download all of those into one directory/folder. Once they are all downloaded run the .exe and it will unpack the .bin files for you and begin the installation.

While GWX is installing download the 1.03 patch. Once GWX is finished installing run the patch.

I also additionally downloaded the GWX config files for SH3 Commander 2.7 since I use that, and the GWX Skinpack for SH3 Commander. I didn't bother with the Aircraft markings because whenever I see a plane I dive and I'm not too concerned about the markings, just that I don't get bombed.

What Genferret said. Only the first link is a torrent one. The second and third are single file downloads of the 1.0 version (you may have to sign up on the sites that offer them). All other files are multiple mirrors of the installation files and patches.

Yep only 2 downloads

GWX ( 6 parts or a single D\L ) and GWX 1.03

1.03 is a cumalative patch that includes all others

And as its an installer ( for both ) you dont need to mess around placing files anywhere
Does it all for you

Not difficult is it

If you use SH3Commander you will need the 1.02CFG files for that program to get the most out of it re GWX

well the first links for the individual files are all the filefront home page not gwx so i just used the second links on all of them. im not willing to join game shadow and the 3rd site is not in english so that really threw me lol.

genffert straightened me out and i should be wolfing very soon.

are patches 2 and 3 from the gwx developement team or are they independent patches?
i heard a while back there was some discussion about it.

Just one patch. 1.03

There was a 1.02 patch, but when they made 1.03 they made it cumulative (1.03 patch includes 1.02 patched items). So it's just 1 patch now and you'll be up to date.

The other optional stuff they have on that page is just that, it's optional. Personally I'm ok with the flotilla set up, and I'm not exactly sure what the antenna one does.

The stuff under the SH3 Commander area is only for people who use SH3 Commander (I personally couldn't live without it these days). The config files are a mandatory if you run SH3 Commander, the markings and skinpack are not.

Also, you get the manual with GWX (it'll be in your documentation folder within the SH directory), so I think that other manual for download is mostly the same but includes any changes made in 1.03.

Edit: And yes, the 1.03 patch out there is officially from the Gray Wolves mod team.
