I have to wonder if theres a difference between the DvD version of SH4, and the D/L version of SH4. What makes me wonder this is ive seen at least one person asking for a "bad weather guns mod" because it was annoying him. In the D/L version ive been playing, weather has absolutely no effect on the guns. So i have to wonder.
edit: More cause to wonder. here's a pic of the radar screen that i see. Note, no extra graph lines on the display screen. ![]() Then you have Neals, who i think is using the DVD version. http://www.subsim.com/sh4/sh4_668.jpg Last edited by Ducimus; 03-28-07 at 05:32 AM. |

I wonder a bit too.
I have the download version and I am not getting what you've got as to the radar screen. I can't even get a sweep to show on either the radar or the Sonar. Maybe it's all related to prestiege? I took the lowest prestiege not knowing that it affected my ability to add certain things to my game. (I'm a first timer with SH4, did not own SH3.) Not knowing what prestiege could do for me on my very first career, I didn't add any abilities to crew or equipment, and had a very quite inactive crew. On my second career, I play around a bit before leaving the harbor and find I can add stuff to the crew and boat prior to leaving port and my guys keep calling out tons of contacts, both air and water. I hear (read) people talking about rotating a ring around the radar and I'm like .. "wtf you talking about?" I have no idea how to function with this being completely new to the game, but I would have figured everyone would have gotten the same software. I still have not completed a first mission yet as I'm still learning new things and starting careers over as I learn them. So I don't know. I don't have the red background either. I am assuming its a mod?

In any case, the copy-protection forced bugs of the DVD version are theoretically not present in the download one, so it will have some coding differences. Wonder for example, if the screenshot by Ducimus would have "smilies" on it if there were contacts shown on screen :hmm:

Snuffy, I think that the red background is the red night lighting, just like SHIII at night. So I don't believe it's a mod. Night vision...... remember?
![]() That's my guess as I still don't have SH4. ![]()

Neal could have been using a different sub, or early or late war radar set diferences (regarding graph).
I doubt there are any diferences between the DL and DVD version, I think even the CP Bugs code are there too, just working diferently (ie DL version is via internet) I think the smilies might have been due to the review version ? I would hate to have them in my DVD version, and so far I dont. My DVD version looks the same as your pic ducimus, so mabe it an upgrade, you know what Neal is like...always the best ![]() |
