Default Give your scoring!

I skimmed the UBI forum, collected some comments around the web, and red this forum, and formed an impression of that this sim for many players is in a very bugged state, several details are not functioning as advertised, or are broken all together, and that not a few people have technical issues and even CTDs as well. So I set up this poll. Don't judge by emotion and love for the genre, but by you honest fact-oriented gaming-experience please. In other words: do it cool.

I myself am much interested, but plan not to get engaged before the next one or two patches are out, and until then I will silently follow the feedback and forum events. What I red at UBI forums,a dn various game sites were people left comments on the technical condition the sim is in, made me very cautious.

I fall somewhere in between "great potential" and "mixed bag". I haven't been complaining (or complimenting), i just fix what i can in the Mother F'er and try and understand the rest to see if that can't be fixed too.

Im not giving SH4 a grading yet. Im waiting for the next patch before i open my yap.

I just finished patrol 6 today of the USS Drum, and completely took apart a large convoy in the solomon islands area. I've been trying to do 2 patrols a day, as I can, and some exploring on the side where possible (sank a cruiser at wake on my way to the solomons today).

The game has some issues, but from my point of view, even with close-to-minimum specs, it's still a badass game. I'm in school for game development, and I couldn't imagine the amount of research put into the physics modeling and damage modeling in this game, not to mention the graphics engine. The fact that I can use convergence zones and the thermocline layer to elude escorts is cake enough for me. Icing will come with time as modders add and edit the game "to flavor."

I'm between mixed bag and beta tester. Shipping it without a working chronometer and now I can't customize a career I can only pick very hard, hard, normal , and easy. I'm just hoping they keep plugging away at it.

You can customize a career, click on the radio in the office. And I always thought the magical speed chrono was pretty gamey if your using manual TDC.

Between: Perfect game and much better than SH3 and Great potential, but needs a bit of polishing.

Its such a fun game but like any game it has a couple bugs that need to get fixed.

I voted great potential. It's still very fun to play, and as soon as the gameplay bugs get fixed I don't think I'll be going back to SH3 very often.

Option 2 almost precisely for me.

I would add to it that I'm having a blast with the game as it is. I may not be happy with every technical detail, but I'm absolutely floored with the athmosphere so far and if nothing else - polishing my torpedo-aiming skills never looked so good!

The potential will materialize later. And it's not one of those 'build your own game' deals, either - far from; it's indeed a lot of polish that's needed, but not the meat of it.

So until here (n=57), roughly three in five are happy with the game and think it has only so minor issues that it needs polishing only, and two in five think that game has some serious issues and (at least by the polling options availble) voted for staying with SH3 for now, and/or even longer time in the future.

In my ears, this translates into "UBI has some serious work to do". Thanks for your participation everybody, it helped me to come to my final decision: which is to wait for some months.

And maybe not at all, it's depends.

Really like the game over all so far... has a few things that need attention & a bit of tweaking. But I'd give it a 7.5 in ratings.

I'm still working on the controls right now... as they are set-up just a bit different than SHII or SHIII games.

But again... have to say Excellent work by the Developement Team. SHIV is going to be a Classic Sub Sim... No Doubt!

Great potential, with a few more patches & possible mods from the community, it´ll be a great game!

70% say "Great potential, but needs a bit of polishing." or that it's perfect and that's what your ears hear?

Might be time to see an audiologist!
