Sub School + Porpoise? (Radar????)

Why does the convoy (i think it was this mission) in the sub school describe using the radar system to track the convoy?

The only sub you can use in sub school is the Porpoise and it is not radar equipped from what I can tell.

Also, the manual discusses a Sonar/Radar training mission which I seem to lack
